Online - What Grows Together, Goes Together: Andalusia

10 Oct 2024 6:00 - 07:15 pm
Online via Zoom (link provided on purchase)

Join us for the first instalment of a new online food and wine series where we explore the theory of “what grows together, goes together”. During each event we will discuss three carefully selected dishes and accompanying wines from one wine-producing region of the world.

The wines and dishes featured will be revealed a few weeks before the event, with the recipes also being made available, should you wish to taste along with us.
For our inaugural event, we will be exploring the food and wine of Andalusia in southern Spain.

Pairing food and wine can often be a challenging endeavour, given our diverse preferences and tolerances. There are many sayings about food and wine matching, some more helpful than others. One of the most popular is "what grows together, goes together," suggesting that wines produced in a specific region pair well with the local cuisine. While the Tastings Team generally supports this idea, we decided to put it "to the test" through a relaxed, informal online series.

Join us for the first instalment of this, exploring the "what grows together, goes together" theory. At each event, we will discuss three carefully selected dishes and their accompanying wines from a specific wine-producing region of the world.

For our inaugural event, we will delve into the fabulous food and wine of Andalusia in southern Spain.

The dishes we will be discussing (and tasting!) are:

Tartar de Atún

Caldereta de Cordero

Tocino de Cielo

Wines:

Hidalgo Pastrana Manzanilla Pasada

The Society's Exhibition Mature Medium Dry Oloroso Blend

Williams & Humbert As You Like It Amontillado Medium Sweet

Please email the team on tastings@thewinesociety.com if you would like a copy of our recipes for these dishes.

We’re proud of a diverse online food and wine programme at The Wine Society. Formats range from cheese and wine evenings, takeaway nights and restaurant ‘dine at home’ kits. We will explain where to purchase the food in advance; either from trusted partners or your own local suppliers, and we will suggest the wines to buy in advance to accompany the evening.
