Online - What Grows Together,Goes Together - Greece
Join us as we continue to explore the theory of “what grows together, goes together”. For this event, our focus is Greece – a nation with a rich history of viticulture dating back some 5,000 years, producing spectacular wines from indigenous varieties with a real sense of place.
The wines and dishes are now confirmed and detailed below, should you wish to taste along with us.
Pairing food and wine can often be a challenging endeavour, given our diverse preferences and tolerances. There are many sayings about food and wine matching, some more helpful than others. One of the most popular is "what grows together, goes together," suggesting that wines produced in a specific region pair well with the local cuisine. While the Tastings Team generally supports this idea, we decided to put it "to the test" through a relaxed, informal online series.
For this event, our focus is Greece – a nation with a rich history of viticulture dating back some 5,000 years, producing spectacular wines from indigenous varieties with a real sense of place.
For this event, we will be focusing on the 5 dishes below (although I'm sure we will discuss more).

We’re proud of a diverse online food and wine programme at The Wine Society. Formats range from cheese and wine evenings, takeaway nights and restaurant ‘dine at home’ kits. We will explain where to purchase the food in advance; either from trusted partners or your own local suppliers, and we will suggest the wines to buy in advance to accompany the evening.
