The Society's Exhibition Clare Valley Riesling 2024
Zesty, mouthwatering and focused riesling and a great example of the classic Clare Valley style. The nose shows lemon pith, lime, a touch of rose petal and remarkable finesse. The palate is dart-like but without being sharp, instead being fresh and crisp, with cloudy lemonade notes, sea salt and flint. A remarkable example at the price and a serious wine in its own right. It has been produced exclusively for us by Colin McBryde from his winery neighbouring the iconic and somewhat mysterious Aussie estate Wendouree. Aside from being the man behind the very successful 'Some Young Punks' label, Colin's rieslings under his own brand, Adelina, are known for their focus, freshness and capturing the unique character of Clare Valley. It's been pleasure to work with Colin on this special project, a charming and delicious example of one of the great wine styles of Australia.
The Society's Exhibition Naoussa Xinomavro 2021
An exclusive blend for The Wine Society produced by the master of the xinomavro grape, Apostolos Thymiopoulos. From fruit predominantly from the higher-altitude vineyards of Fytia this is a fragrant and elegant Greek xinomavro with aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries and Oriental spice alongside fresh acidity and sweet tannins.
The Society's Mosel Riesling 2023
This Mosel riesling displays mouthwatering acidity along with finesse and floral aromatics. The steep slate slopes of the region are some of the most impressive vineyards in the world and home to some of the most energetic and charming rieslings. The Society`s Mosel Riesling is blended for us by Bischöfliche Weinguter. Owned by the Catholic church, this German winery, based in the centre of ancient Trier, has been getting better and better quality-wise over the past few years and The Wine Society are delighted to be working with them.
The Society's South African Pinotage-Syrah, Coastal Region 2024
South Africa`s very own grape pinotage takes the lead in this fresh, fruity Cape Blend of young Stellenbosch syrah with older bush-vine pinotage from Swartland. The grapes were whole-berry fermented and the syrah grapes were lightly crushed and gently handled in the cellar to produce a fruit-driven red with soft tannins. The blend is 66% pinotage, 34% syrah.
The Society's Exhibition Spätburgunder 2022
Our first-ever Exhibition Spätburgunder has been produced by a young winemaker in the Pfalz, Vincent Eymann from Weingut Eymann, whose estate has been working organically and biodynamically for many years. The 2022 vintage is generous, and this Spätburgunder is fruit forward, wonderfully expressive and juicy in style. Expect wild strawberries, cherries and plum notes combined with smoky hints that add additional layers.
The Society's Greek White 2024
2024 was a warm vintage where volumes were severely reduced leading to concentrated and intensely aromatic roditis and moschofilero. Both thrived leading to an equal blend of 50:50 of the two varieties, with moschofilero providing the characteristic citrus and Turkish delight with the roditis giving stone-fruit character.
