The Society's Exhibition Limarí Chardonnay 2023

Fresh, taut and mineral wine from the cool Limarí region of Chile. Barrel fermentation develops the flavours and contributes a hint of oak without masking its bright aromas and flavours, and decanting is recommended to open them up. Concha y Toro are a leader in more sustainable working practices with strategies to reduce energy and water use, environmental projects including increasing biodiversity, and many local community initiatives.

Chile £11.95 per bottle
2024 - 2029

The Society's Rioja Crianza 2020

Rioja is Spain's pre-eminent wine region, renowned for its graceful, stylish wines, mainly from the tempranillo grape. The Society's Rioja is made in the classic, traditional style that Society members so adore by Bodegas Palacio, who are based in the spectacular fortified village of Laguardia. Ageing in oak for 15 months results in a smooth, mellow and juicy tempranillo with red-fruit flavour complemented by hallmark savoury, leathery complexity. The ageing of wine in barrels is absolutely integral to winemaking in Rioja, and our new label for this member favourite pays homage to the cooperage tools that are used to make these traditional vessels.

Spain £8.95 per bottle
2024 - 2026

The Society's Argentine Malbec 2024

This is the ideal introduction to Argentine malbec. It has a forthcoming floral aroma with some black-fruit character and a fresh, round and balanced palate. It's mainly from the Valle de Uco for aroma and intensity of flavour with some Agrelo fruit for richness. It is produced exclusively for The Wine Society by Dominio del Plata, a winery owned by one of Argentina`s most celebrated winemakers, Susana Balbo. A gaucho rides on a sheepskin covered saddle which is illustrated on the new label.

Argentina £9.50 per bottle
2024 - 2028

The Society's Exhibition Mendoza Malbec 2023

Flagship Argentine malbec from the pioneering Catena winery, this is deservedly popular. The new vintage of this sophisticated and dependable red picked up where last year`s Wine Champion-winning vintage left off, winning plaudits this year for its ‘plummy round fruit, plenty of freshness and a lick of oak.`

Argentina £12.50 per bottle
2024 - 2033

The Society's Exhibition Rioja Reserva 2020

A smooth and exotic Exhibition-label bottling from La Rioja Alta. The 2020 is classic displaying full and rich savoury notes, with gentle spice making this traditional-style Rioja so appealing. This comes from the famous La Rioja Alta bodega, whose wines are known for their finesse as well as depth of flavour. We chose them because they make the very best traditional style of Rioja, released only after long ageing in barrel and bottle. This results in a complex, lengthy wine with fine, delicate texture which is amazingly fragrant and stylish, and deservedly a Wine Champion for 2024.

Spain £17.00 per bottle

The Society's Chilean Limarí Chardonnay 2023

This crisp and refreshing wine is made exclusively for us by Concha y Toro's brilliant winemakers Marcelo Papa and Ignacio Recabarren. Limarí is now regarded as Chile's pre-eminent region for chardonnay. The grape thrives here due to the Pacific`s strong cooling influence, low rainfall and the soils, which contain limestone. Some stirring of the yeast lees is done to add richness to the palate, and the wine is unoaked to avoid masking its bright citrus fruit and typical hint of minerality. To cap it all, Concha y Toro are a leader in more sustainable working practices with strategies to reduce energy and water use, environmental projects including increasing biodiversity, and many local community initiatives. The Chilean bellflower (or lapageria rosea), known locally as copihue, adorns the label and is the national flower of Chile. Please note. this wine is bottled without a capsule.
