Quinta das Carvalhas Touriga Nacional, Douro 2020
A very classy, plush and full-bodied touriga nacional. The nose shows the grape's hallmark hint of rose petal and violets, with concentrated cassis and notes of vanilla and wild herbs. The palate is plush, full-bodied and silky, with concentrated black fruit character and lifted floral notes. Touriga nacional is one of Portugal's great gifts to the world of wine. This grape variety has been key in so many of the country's great red blends for decades, though it is only fairly recently that we are seeing such excellent varietal bottlings. This is an excellent and robust example from Quinta das Carvalhas in the country's stunning Douro Valley.
