Wines included
Château de Beauregard, Saint-Véran Le Vernay 2022
Fine-flavoured unoaked Saint-Véran from a cool spot in Chasselas, which has succeeded in producing a fresh and beautifully balanced wine in this warm year. Taut and firm, it is unoaked to preserve its minerality intact. Matured on its yeast lees for 15 months in stainless steel vats to fill out the mid-palate.
Domaine de la Rochette Mont Sard, Mâcon-Bussières 2022
This is a rich, gentle wine with a natural concentration coming from 1.5ha of vines principally planted in the 1930s, 1945, 1947 and a little in the 1980s. Fermented and matured for seven months in a combination of a wooden vat (43hl) and 228-litre barrels.
Joseph Burrier, Mâcon-Fuissé 2022
Ripe but fresh and well-balanced Mâcon of excellent quality which belies its humble appellation. Made from vineyards above the amphitheatre of Fuissé and fermented and then matured for seven months in 228-litre barrels.
Famille Cordier, Mâcon Aux Bois d'Allier 2022
Fermented and matured in a 20-hectolitre barrels called foudre to allow development of flavour from the oxygen which enters the wine through the staves yet moderating the oak influence, this is a beautifully balanced and harmonious white Burgundy on the melon spectrum of fruit flavours.
The Society's Exhibition Chablis Premier Cru Montmains 2023
Firm, mineral Chablis matured in foudres for eight months to open up the flavours without masking its freshness with overt oak.
Domaine Jacques Saumaize, Saint-Véran En Crêches 2023
Saint-Véran offers ripe yet fresh whites. This is a beautifully balanced, tank-fermented example, from a cool spot, on the broad back of La Roche de Vergisson. In this ripe year, its baked-apple flavours are tinged with a hint of honey.
