Reuilly ‘La Ferté', Domaine Mabillot 2021

2.000000000 star rating 1 Reviews
Our Wine Champions panel loved this ‘balanced, fresh, citrusy’ sauvignon from the Loire Valley, and it was a worthy winner in our tastings. A touch richer and weightier than some, with great concentration and weight. It makes a great-value alternative to Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.

Alain & Matthieu Mabillot

Alain is the father and Matthieu his son and together they work their small Reuilly domaine. Matthieu returned to work with his father after beginning a career that saw him work in marketing and at wineries in Bordeaux, Australia and California.

Alain had begun life as a cereal farmer before diversifying in the early 1990s. He still owns 300 hectares of arable land but purchased 5 hectares of land in the lieu-dits of Les Conges, Les Thaumières and latterly Mont Cocu. They nurture sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and pinot noir vines and vinify the fruit at a shared facility in Reuilly itself which allows smaller producers such as the Mabillots to produce their own wines.
