Parcé Frères

The Parcé family is a big family with property extending between Banyuls and Maury, and with various members of the family attached to one or another of the various estates and activities.

Marc Parcé had been closely associated with La Rectorie in Banyuls but has left that to younger members while he has launched a small négoce business that specialises in wines from the Roussillon.

It's not a style that some wine lovers will be familiar with, but this bottling from 2002, bottled two years ago, is guaranteed to make you a devotee of the southern French Rivesaltes VDN category. It's a fortified blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc and Macabeu, aged in oak barrel for 20 years (in an oxidative environment) and bottled with around 120g/L residual sugar. It's a gorgeous amber colour when poured, softly treacley on the nose, and then with lush rich, raisined fruit and salted caramel notes. But fresh as a daisy!
