Saumur 'La Jouvencelle', Domaine de Roche Ville 2018

White Wine from France - Loire
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The young lady (jouvencelle) portrayed on the label characterises the style of this fresh, elegant chenin blanc from the Loire. Nine months on the fine lees rounds out the apple-tinged fruit and fresh core of acidity.

Domaine de Roche Ville

Owner Philippe Porché made a fortune in French supermarkets and invested here 10 years ago, building a high-tech winery on land bought from a coopérateur, as well as a large function venue, in Parnay. He has transformed the domaine, investing in a brand new winery and state-of-the-art equipment to fill it, including new and variously sized tanks.

They are Terra Vitis accredited, which means that they operate under a regime that keeps concern for the environment to the fore. Their name of their wine ‘Le Page’ means The Pageboy and comes principally from the lieu-dit of Les Hautes Varennes.

Loire Valley Vintage 2018 Anjou Touraine

If 2017 was classic (in a good way), with consistent purity of fruit and glorious freshness to the fore, 2018 is by contrast a riper and – for many – friendlier vintage, with super-healthy fruit, richer flavours and less of the acidity which some can struggle with.
