Satisfying, substantial Spanish rosado, this is very deep in colour and a fabulous option for food matching. This generous garnacha outmuscled many a worthy contender in our Wine Champions tasting this year for its generous fruit and sense of completeness.

Señorío de Sarría

Señorío de Sarría, located in the heart of Valdizarbe in Navarra, covers an area of 210 hectares with vineyards stretching out over the slopes and hillsides of the El Perdón mountain range and along the riverbanks of the river Arga in Miranda de Arga.

New management has transformed the quality here and we believe this bodega is producing some of the best wines available in Spain in this price category. Their delicious, complex red blends are made from tempranillo, graciano, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, mazuelo and garnacha matured for a year in new oak, and their delightful rosé has been a huge hit with members and critics alike, and was voted a wine Champion in our annual tastings in 2020.

I adore this rosé: who says rosé has to be pale, and / or complex? It's a joy to drink, perfect for a summer barbecue in the garden. A deep blush bright pink in the glass, it pops with ripe strawberry fruit and a hint of bubblegum – but it's not at all sickly, fruit sweet but fresh, and bone dry. I seek out this style every year on my annual summer weekend in Spain, and love it with prawns pil pil. Voted a 2024 Wine Champion by the Society's buying team.

Exuberant, spicy food-loving, dry, dark rose red rosado from Navarra, Rioja’s overlooked next door neighbour, crammed with hearty strawberry fruit. Made from the fruity garnacha, or grenache, grape it closes on a pleasing nip of bitterness, making it the perfect barbecue bottle.

Fairly deep Grenache rosé was the traditional speciality of this northern Spanish region and this interesting dry wine has lots of strawberry character.

Raspberry-coloured and also dry, the intensity of flavour in this pink from north-eastern Spain is a delight. Don’t miss out.

A gorgeous, intensely-coloured and flavoured rosado that’s absolutely delicious and also bone dry (unlike some of the paler wines here – and if you want numbers then I can tell you that the Aldi Coteaux de Béziers above has 4g/l of residual sugar whereas this Spanish pink has 0.5g/l – as dry as it gets). Made from garnacha and reminiscent of just-picked, deeply ripe raspberries. I really loved this one.

This dark-hued garnacha imparts bold strawberry flavour, with a light, balanced finish.
