The Society's Chilean Carmenère Rapel Valley 2020

Soft and generously fruity carmenère from the Rapel Valley in Chile. Lush, succulent and enveloping. Made for us by Concha y Toro's superb winemakers Ignacio Recabarren and Lorena Mora.

2021 - 2024

The Society's Côtes de Bordeaux 2019

Clarets at this price excelled in this year’s Wine Champions, typified by this example from Château de Pitray. An inviting nose of juicy dark-berry fruit is complemented perfectly by good tannin structure and a fresh note of black pepper.

France
2022 - 2027

The Society's French Pinot Noir 2020

A pinot from the Languedoc to delight the senses: fresh, round and fruity with a hint of cherry and plenty of charm. Best drunk a little cool.

2021 - 2022

The Society's Claret 2020

This friendly and fresh-tasting claret is one of The Wine Society's most consistently popular wines. Supplied for over a quarter of a century by the family-owned Maison Sichel, the bespoke blend varies from vintage to vintage, but merlot takes the lead role, and the wine is made without any oak to avoid masking its bright red and black-fruit flavours. This is made to be drunk on its own or with a wide variety of dishes. The stylish new label features three Greek muses, inspired by those that adorn one of the city’s great landmarks, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux opera house. Please note: We've taken the step to remove the capsule (the covering on the top of the bottle) from this wine, as part of our sustainability strategy. This will have no adverse effect on the quality of the wine but reduces waste. The wine is also bottled in a light-weight glass bottle (420g or less) that reduces our carbon emissions, as it requires less materials to produce and less energy to transport.

France £7.50 per bottle
2021 - 2023

The Society’s Argentine Malbec 2021

An intensely fruity malbec with tempting aromas of dark berries, plums and violets, leading to a palate of spicy fruit. Rich, round and ripe, this is lovely by the glass as well as being the perfect partner for a steak or Sunday roast.

Argentina £7.95 per bottle
2021 - 2024

The Society's Sicilian Reserve Red 2018

A deservedly popular, smooth, generous and fragrant wine made from the nero d'Avola grape. It’s produced for us from carefully selected parcels in both the Ragusa and Agrigento regions of Sicily, where the Mediterranean climate, tempered by a cooling coastal breeze, produces full-bodied reds. Partly aged in French oak barrels with a further 12 months' maturation in bottle before release.

Italy £8.75 per bottle
2021 - 2026

The Society's Australian Shiraz 2020

Aside from being good people, Bleasdale also make wines that consistently overperform, even in more challenging vintages. This is a prime example. It's wonderfully vibrant, bold, generous and fruity, with flavours of black cherry, blueberry and blackberry.

Australia £8.95 per bottle
2021 - 2024

The Society's Portuguese Red, Península de Setúbal 2021

From family-owned Casa Ermelinda Freitas, and the sandy soils of Setúbal, south-east of Lisbon, this friendly Portuguese red combines local grape castelão, which is all juicy red fruits, with a little alicante bouschet which brings darker black fruit and fleshiness.

Portugal £6.25 per bottle
2022 - 2024

The Society's Beaujolais Les Pierres Dorées 2021

A soft, fresh and fruity wine from the acclaimed Pierres Dorées region of southern Beaujolais. Delicious slightly chilled. This replaces the Society's Beaujolais-Villages for the frost-affected 2021 vintage, which produced perfumed, less intense wines which are especially good from the south of the appellation.

France £8.50 per bottle
2022 - 2023

The Society's French Syrah 2021

This is a northern Rhône syrah, with elements from both banks including an element from Brézème, a micro-region a few miles to the south of Crozes-Hermitage. It offers plenty of colour and fresh-tasting blueberry fruit with a touch of spice.

France £7.95 per bottle
2022 - 2024

The Society's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2021

This much-loved Montepulciano's ripe-cherry and strawberry perfume leaps out of the glass, while the palate has a pure fruit richness and a refreshing finish.

Italy £7.95 per bottle
2022 - 2024

The Society's Southern Spanish Red, Jumilla 2021

Deep in colour, with blackberry flavour and a touch of spice, this inexpensive Spanish red really overdelivers on flavour. It comes from old monastrell vines in Jumilla, near Alicante on the Mediterranean coast.
