The Society's Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine sur Lie 2023

Crisp and refreshing in the new vintage, with Muscadet's typical saline note that makes it such a good match for seafood and especially shellfish. This wine has been sourced for nearly 40 years from the impeccable family firm of Chéreau-Carré. Just before the river Loire spills into the Atlantic, it is joined by the Sèvre and Maine rivers. The vineyards around their confluence produce the best Muscadet, whose distinctive tangy flavour is enhanced by prolonged contact with the yeast lees produced during fermentation (sur Lie).

France £8.95 per bottle
2024 - 2026

The Society's White Rioja 2022

A classically styled white Rioja made from this Spanish region's traditional white grapes (mostly viura with some malvasia), with a proportion aged in barrel. It is lemony-gold in colour with aromas that are spicy and nutty, rather than fruity.

The Society's Mosel Riesling 2023

This Mosel riesling displays mouthwatering acidity along with finesse and floral aromatics. The steep slate slopes of the region are some of the most impressive vineyards in the world and home to some of the most energetic and charming rieslings. The Society`s Mosel Riesling is blended for us by Bischöfliche Weinguter. Owned by the Catholic church, this German winery, based in the centre of ancient Trier, has been getting better and better quality-wise over the past few years and The Wine Society are delighted to be working with them.

The Society's Chilean Limarí Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Made from a very cool vineyard planted on limestone soils just 7.5 miles from the chilly Pacific Ocean, this is a more mineral than fruity, crystalline, European, less is more style. Limarí's cool and dry climate suits sauvignon blanc and cacti, hence the illustration on the new label. Made for us by Viña Tabalí.

Chile £8.75 per bottle
2024 - 2027

The Society's Vin d'Alsace 2023

Alsace in a bottle! The Society's Vin d'Alsace offers an excellent introduction to the wines of this most beautiful region of France. Rather than being made from a single grape variety, as is the case with most Alsatian wines, this is a blend. The blend is sylvaner, gewurztraminer, pinot gris, riesling, muscat and pinot blanc, here in a juicy vintage with plenty of freshness. It's full-flavoured and dry, yet with plenty of florals and ripe peach aromas, and gastronomically versatile.

France £9.95 per bottle
2024 - 2026

The Society's French Dry White 2024

The visionary Pierre Besinet who created this estate 40 years ago, and installed drip irrigation from the start. Lack of water has become a major problem in parts of the Languedoc, but not here! This is a refreshing sauvignon-dominated white with both charm and ease of drinking. The south of France may not seem an obvious place for crisp white wines but here, near the old Greek port of Agde, a seam of volcanic rock runs into the sea and provides a perfect backdrop for growing white grapes and this intriguing blend is 55% sauvignon blanc, 20% viognier, 15% soréli and 10% roussanne-marsanne.

France £8.25 per bottle
2025 - 2026

The Society's Greek White 2024

2024 was a warm vintage where volumes were severely reduced leading to concentrated and intensely aromatic roditis and moschofilero. Both thrived leading to an equal blend of 50:50 of the two varieties, with moschofilero providing the characteristic citrus and Turkish delight with the roditis giving stone-fruit character.

Greece £8.95 per bottle

The Society's White Burgundy 2024

A fine, dry white Burgundy from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, the warmest part of the region. The wine is ripe and round, with flavours of apple and stone fruit, a hint of citrus and a lovely streak of minerality. The quality of the wine reflects the deep involvement in its selection by successive buyers and the skill of our ‘man on the ground`, Jean-Marc Darbon, who excels in sourcing the right blending options for us to work with. The zander (sandre in French) thrives in the rivers of Burgundy and is shown on this wine`s new label. It has a fine flavour because its carnivorous and so is much superior to that of weed-eating fish. It`s as good as wild brown trout to eat and appears frequently on menus in Burgundian restaurants. Don`t hesitate to try it.
