Château Peyrabon, Haut-Médoc 2014

This is a lovely example of a northern Médoc 2014 that benefitted from the Indian Summer prior to harvest. Cabernet-sauvignon-dominant (60%), with 35% merlot and small amounts of cabernet franc and petit verdot conspire to deliver great purity of fruit and bags of freshness.

2021 - 2030

Bóhorquez Reserva, Ribera del Duero 2017

From a notable estate in Spain's fine wine region Ribera del Duero and one that has been immensely popular with members. 2017 produced low yields (down 40% versus a normal year) but the quality is superb. The young wine is bright in appearance with elegant, pure fruit, a hint of cedar and beautifully structured. Round and rich with smoky tobacco flavour and wonderful harmony, it’s a brilliant option for hearty barbecue fare. The wines of this property have a track record of ageing and we recommend a drinking window of 2025 to 2032. As it matures it will become silky, mellow and cedary. The 2017 is mostly tinto fino (tempranillo), with a 12% cabernet and a touch of merlot, aged for 14 months in French (80%) and US (20%) oak barrels.

2025 - 2032

Chianti Classico, Fattoria La Ripa 2021

From a beautiful, historic organic estate in Tuscany, this 2024 Wine Champion from a great vintage was praised by our tasters for its traditional style and for being particularly food-friendly. Its vivid cherry, spice and leather notes will complement a huge range of dishes.

Italy £13.95 per bottle
2024 - 2027

The Society's Exhibition Sancerre 2023

The Laloues` first vintage to be certified organic offers finesse, minerality, fine balance and wonderful freshness. Simply cooked salmon or trout would make a fine match, but its soulmate is goat`s milk cheese, melted on a toasted baguette with sharply dressed leaves.

France £19.50 per bottle
2024 - 2027

Jean-Marc Brocard, Chablis Vignobles Sainte Claire Vieilles Vignes 2022

Made from vines planted in the Malantes vineyard, this is a wonderful pure, crystalline Chablis which would embarrass many a premier cru. The wonderful Malantes site is situated on a hillside that runs roughly parallel to that on which sits Montmains. While Montmains is a premier cru, Malantes, which has a similar exposition but perhaps turns a little more to the east (while Montmains is south-east), is just classed as village Chablis, of which it is a very superior source. A shining light for quality in Chablis, Brocard is also leading the charge to adapt to climate change, which the region is suffering from. With virtually no trees or hedges to mitigate the rising temperatures, they are undertaking to plant 30,000 trees by 2030.

Miles Mossop The Introduction Cabernet Sauvignon-Cinsault, Stellenbosch 2022

Great-value traditional South African blend of cabernet sauvignon and cinsault, often seen in the great wines of the mid-20th Century. Cabernet sauvignon provides great density and structure with blackberry-fruit and dusty tannins, with the cinsault giving perfume and a luscious purity to the fruit.
