We cordially invite you to join us for a delicious lunch and optional tour of our warehouses with your fellow members at our Stevenage cellars. Please note that the tour is now fully booked.

With it being September, the theme for this month's lunch is 'Back to School', and we will be pairing delicious wines with a few dishes that take us back to the school canteen (albeit somewhat updated).

We are delighted to once again be able to invite members to a tour of the Society’s warehouses prior to our Members’ Lunches.

Tour Start Time : Arrive 11.30am for a 11.45am departure

Departure Location : Cellar Showroom

Duration : 45mins-1hour

Lunch Start Time (if not attending the tour): Arrive 12.30pm

We will begin with a short introduction including a brief history of The Society from the comfort of the Members’ Room while you refresh with an aperitif, followed by a delicious four course meal paired with five wines.

Our friendly Tastings team will be on hand to guide you through the wines and dishes, offering interesting insights into the wines, their producers, and their winemaking practices, and chatting through why the food and wine pairings were chosen.

Expect an afternoon of good food, good wines, and good company!

Dishes and wines to be enjoyed will be:

Aperitif 
- Champagne Albert Lebrun Premier Cru Brut NV

Starter 
Pea, bean, bacon and Gruyere tart & watercress salad. 

- Jechtinger Weissburgunder Trocken, Weingut Bercher 2022

Main 
Classic Lasagna served with green salad.

- Basilicata Rosato Le Ralle, Alovini 2023  
 
- Lone Birch Yakima Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 

Cheese
Salers and Baron Bigod cheeses served with crackers and grapes.  

- The Wine Society’s Generation Series South African Chenin Blanc, Stellenbosch 2023  

Dessert 
Apple and blackberry crumble served with custard.

About the Warehouse Tour

These tours offer members an opportunity to take a peek behind the curtain and see how the Society manages it’s operations including a look at Warehouse 5.

Should you wish to attend the warehouse tour:

Spaces on the tour are limited, so if you would like to attend please let the team know confirming the number of places you would like and confirm acceptance of the conditions below:

 

1. The Warehouse Tour will depart from the Cellar Showroom at 11.45am. Late comers will not be able to be accommodated so please arrive promptly.


2. All participants must wear a hi-vis vest that will be provided.

3. Participants must wear sturdy, flat soled shoes. No open toed footwear of any sort will be allowed.

4. Participants will be walking quite a distance and standing/walking for a minimum of 45mins. There will be multiple staircases and uneven terrain so participants must have a good level of mobility.

5. The tour will have one member of staff at the front of the group and one at the back. It is essential participants remain with the group and do not move off the safety lines marked out on the warehouse floors, unless instructed to do so.

6. Participants are not allowed to touch, use or interfere with any equipment on site.

7. No smoking or vaping is allowed within the warehouse, and participants must not use any headphones or mobile phones other than for photos at advised times. Please also ensure that no photographs are taken of warehouse staff without their prior consent.

Do you send physical tickets or is it all e-tickets? 

We no longer send out physical tickets for our events. An email confirming registration will be sent to the member who has purchased the ticket(s) and this email can be used as confirmation upon arrival at the event.  

Can I bring a non-member? 

Yes. Tickets must be booked by a member, but you are welcome to bring non-member guests.

Do I need to know lots about wine to attend?

Absolutely not! Our events target a range of experience and knowledge levels, and we try to make this clear on our event pages. If you’re unsure if an event is for you, simply contact tastings@thewinesociety.com and we will try to help.

Do I get a discount on wines after events?

After our ‘in person’ events, we offer attendees a 10% discount on the wines we have shown, subject to availability. You will be provided with a private code after attending the event to redeem the discount

Can I join a waiting list for sold out events?

Yes. Please do feel free to join our waiting lists for sold out events. If tickets become available you will be contacted by email.
