Stevenage - Meerlust Dinner with Wim Truter

26 Sep 2024 7:00 - 10:30 pm

As we continue to celebrate our 150th Anniversary, we are honoured to be joined by Wim Truter, winemaker at the iconic Meerlust Estate in South Africa for a 3-course wine pairing dinner, featuring their equally iconic wine, Rubicon.

Sale price: £125.00 per person
Tickets Available
Code: TG240926IP

When the Myburgh family first purchased the Meerlust Estate in 1756, they could not possibly have predicted that the family would still be making some of the country’s most prestigious wine there hundreds of years on.

Run by eighth generation Hannes Myburgh, making it the longest family-run wine estate in the Cape by far, Meerlust have transformed the landscape of South African wine production altogether.

It was under the stewardship of Hannes’ father, Nico, that Meerlust Rubicon was created. Join winemaker Wim Truter as he guides us through this and other amazing wines with Society Buyer Matthew Horsley, all paired with a sumptuous 3-course dinner.

The wines and menu will be available from w/c 22nd July

Sit back, relax, and let the Tastings & Events team guide you through the wonders of food and wine pairing, whether it be at a restaurant takeover, themed dinner, Members’ lunch, or foodie masterclass.  Our team will help members learn the building blocks of how the flavours and sensations in food and wine interact. The menus for the events are usually provided on registration but do let us know of any dietary or seating requirements.

The close relationships we have with our winemakers, growers and producers is something we cherish.  From walkaround tastings to focused roundtable discussions, we love to give members the opportunity to meet the people behind your favourite wines.

Do you send physical tickets or is it all e-tickets?

We no longer send out physical tickets for our events. An email confirming registration will be sent to the member who has purchased the ticket(s) and this email can be used as confirmation upon arrival at the event.

Can I bring a non-member?

Yes. Tickets must be booked by a member, but you are welcome to bring non-member guests.

Do I need to know lots about wine to attend?

Absolutely not! Our events target a range of experience and knowledge levels, and we try to make this clear on our event pages. If you’re unsure if an event is for you, simply contact tastings@thewinesociety.com and we will try to help.

Do I get a discount on wines after events?

After our ‘in person’ events, we offer attendees a 10% discount on the wines we have shown, subject to availability. You will be provided with a private code after attending the event to redeem the discount

What is your cancellation policy?

Full details on our cancellation policy can be found here.
