Casa Ermelinda Freitas Vinha do Torrao Rose VR Setubal 2020
Quinta do Lagoalva Rosé, Tejo 2020
Portugal produced a bracing brace of rosé Wine Champions this year; this, the first, stood out for its dry, grapefruit-like flavour and herbal, peppery notes, a combination rare to find in a wine at this price. Versatile at the dinner table and victorious at the tasting table.
Viña Zorzal Garnacha Rosado, Navarra 2020
Spain’s on-form Zorzal team has made a crunchy, exuberant but elegant and gentle rosado in 2020. One of the prettiest in our Wine Champions pink round, praised for its vivid colour, floral hints and food-matching potential.
Domaine Peter Sichel, Les Jardiniers Rosé, Pays de Cucugnan 2020
This is the first result of the Sichel family's revamped estate in the Corbieres in the south of France, and fittingly, given the time of the year, it is pink. Made from grenache and syrah, it is a lovely pale pink, fruity and flavoury.
Gentleman Vigneron Rosé, IGP Atlantique 2020
A brand new wine in 2020 vintage, this is an attractively pale rosé made from merlot grapes harvested at Château La Grave de Bertin in the Entre-Deux-Mers, Bordeaux. This simple, fresh and sherbetty rosé makes a lovely summer quaffer, either on its own or with food.
