Summer Drinking Whites Case
Wines included
Duo Des Mers Sauvignon-Viognier, Vin de France 2020
This clever blend of Gascon sauvignon blanc`s lemony crispness and Languedoc viognier`s fragrant apricotty charm went down just as well with our Wine Champions tasters as it does with the many members who buy it so enthusiastically each year. We are pleased to confirm the 2020 is an excellent year for this popular thirst quencher!
Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine, Famille Bougrier 2020
Too often overlooked, few wines offer such easy-drinking anytime versatility as good Muscadet from the Atlantic end of the Loire. This is a lovely example, finishing clean and fresh. A Decanter World Wine Awards bronze medal winner in 2021.
Quinta da Alorna Reserva Arinto Chardonnay, Tejo 2019
An unusual and versatile blend of Portugal's crisp and refreshing arinto grape with the yellow fruit and creamier texture of chardonnay.
The Society's Greek White 2020
The follow-on to the hugely popular 2019 vintage, the 2020 is equally delicious. A blend of moschofilero, providing the grapefruit and rosehip aromatics, and roditis, giving wonderful citrusy freshness. The perfect ‘anyday’ white from Greece. An International Wine Challenge and Decanter World Wine Awards bronze medal winner in 2021.
The Society's French Dry White 2020
This is supplied to us by Languedoc producer Domaine du Bosc, whose diversity of grape varieties allows them to play to the strengths of the vintage in this part of France. Aromatic, and delightful, with a light touch.
Vermentino Sicilia, Mandrarossa 2020
Not content with festooning our Wine Champions podium with fantastic-value red wines, Sicily also contributed a pair of white wines that earned Championship status with aplomb. The first was this zingy, lemony vermentino, whose citrusy character and touch of white pepper proved very impressive for the price.
