The Society's 150th Anniversary Vintage Champagne 2012

Champagne from France - Champagne
3.800000000 star rating 5 Reviews
Nicolas Jaeger declared the 2012 as an 'exceptional vintage'. The Champagne, disgorged in 2020, now has a rich brioche and preserved lemon note on the nose, fine persistent bead, an elegant yet intense apple, plum and bread-yeast core with mouthwatering acidity lengthening the concentrated, long and balanced finish. We're delighted that this wine is part of our celebratory Anniversary Range in our 150th year. For a video message from the winemaker, and for more on the story of this wine, please scroll down.

More on the wine

There was only one name we wanted for our Anniversary Champagne: our longest-standing supplier, Alfred Gratien, purveyors of Society bubbles for more than 100 years of our shared history. Epernay is like the Bond Street of Champagne, full of the region’s big names. Gratien are quite small by comparison, but their size and their artisanal approach are a great fit for The Society.

Gratien’s chef de cave Nicolas Jaeger allowed us to be involved in the decisions on disgorgement timing and dosage, so that this 2012 cuvée would be unique for Society members. Having undergone its first fermentation in small ex-Burgundy barrels and had its malolactic fermentation restricted, the wine has layers of richness and tension. It was disgorged in 2020.
