The Society's Exhibition Hunter Valley Semillon 2018

White Wine from Australia - New South Wales
3.600000000 star rating 5 Reviews
One of Australia's greatest wine styles, Hunter semillon has the ability to be fine, fresh and focused in its youth but with a little bit of age, as here, it starts to develop wonderful aromas of flint, gunpowder, kerosene and beeswax, which complements the citrus and white-fruit notes perfectly. Made for us by Brokenwood, one of the finest exponents of this style and a great name of the Hunter Valley. It was justly voted one of our Wine Champion in 2023.

Brokenwood

Beginning life in 1970 as a hobby vineyard, farmed at weekends by a trio of Sydney solicitors, the Brokenwood estate has evolved to become one of Australia’s most well thought-of wineries. Located in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley it is now owned by a syndicate of 23, with an excellent winemaking team under the aegis of Ian Riggs, a fine winemaker and world-renowned wine show judge who joined Brokenwood in 1982.

Nutty and toasty, as it should be. Classic and such good value. Toasty over lime fruit. Crisp and long and still a way to go.
