The Generation Series Taste the Eras Case
Wines included
The Wine Society`s Generation Series Chianti Classico 2021
This exclusive Chianti was a winner in our 2024 Wine Champions blind tastings, a testament to the talents of Francesco Ricasoli, whose family has been making wine in Chianti Classico at Castello di Brolio since the 12th century. This traditional-style example has wonderful lift, with red apple and rosemary aromas and great elegance. The Wine Society's Generation Series Macon Villages 2022
This is an attractive and complex blend of different Mâcon villages with 8% oak-aged wine to contribute principally structure, not aroma, and 19% from a superior appellation included to augment the quality. 2022 is a warm year producing ripe yet fresh fruit with a melony character. The Wine Society`s Generation Series Vinsobres 2021
Altitude and mountain breezes make Vinsobres the ideal place to source a Côtes-du-Rhône, and this example, made for us by our old friends the Jaume family for our 150th anniversary, has bright open fruity notes of cherry and raspberry, ripe tasting but without any heaviness. The Wine Society`s Generation Series Marlborough Sauvignon 2023
Marlborough Sauvignon started on its meteoric rise in the late 1980s and has since become one of the most loved wine styles in the world. We have worked with Ben Glover, star winemaker of the region, to produce a special wine to represent this icon within our special 150th Anniversary range. It comes from premium vineyards in the region and demonstrates all the delicious appeal that has led to the incredible popularity of New Zealand`s most successful wine export. It`s impeccably crisp, generous and citrusy; a classy, complete and delicious wine with all the appeal fans of good New Zealand sauvignon rightly expect. The Wine Society`s Generation Series Muscadet 2022
Second and third generations of the Chéreau family, Bernard and Louise respectively, created this unique wine for us for our 150th birthday Generation Series, and it combines their specialism in the sur Lie style with a nod to the past. A small component was raised in older oak barrels bringing extra breadth and complexity to muscadet`s natural freshness and appetising salinity. The Wine Society`s Generation Series Rioja 2020
A limited release for our 150th is this fruity, plummy and smooth Rioja which is mostly garnacha, the grape most commonly used in Rioja in the 19th century. This has been aged for several years before bottling in 2023, including 10 months in French oak. For a video message from the winemaker, and for more on the story of this wine, please scroll down.
