Touraine Sauvignon Blanc ''Les Hauts Lieux', Famille Bougrier 2023

White Wine from France - Loire
4.000000000 star rating 1 Reviews
From fine, chalky soils, this is a crisp, delicately perfumed Loire sauvignon that finishes whistle clean and fresh. The region of Touraine stretches from Chinon in the west to Blois in the east along the Loire river. The area produces white wines from both the chenin blanc and sauvignon blanc grape varieties, but this Touraine is 100% sauvignon.

Bougrier

Maison Bougrier is a successful family-owned négociant company in the Loire founded in 1885 now run by the fifth generation of Bougriers. The company has significant domaine and winery holdings in three major areas: Touraine, Anjou and Muscadet giving it full control over vineyards, grapes and production in a number of sites.

The Touraine area produces whites from both chenin blanc and sauvignon blanc grape varieties. Bougrier’s premium white from Touraine is made from 100% sauvignon blanc grapes and was originally labelled for us as The Society’s Touraine Sauvignon, now sold under the Les Hauts Lieux label.

Domaine Guénault is one of the family’s own properties and situated on steep slopes overlooking the Cher river, which gives the grapes excellent sun exposure. The sauvignon here is grassy and scented and a popular choice as an aperitif.
