Tour of Tuscany’s Fine Wines Case
This textbook Chianti Classico offers red-cherry, tart strawberry and clove on the perfume, and with its medium body and food friendly tannins this wine has great charm.
This serious Chianti Classico Riserva benifts from a excellent vintage, and although drinking well on release will age beautifully too. Perfumed with cherry, balsamic spice and cedar, the tannins of this Italian red are extremely fine and the length has forest floor and red-berry flavours.
Enrico and Elisa Lippi make thier riserva from their highest, stoniest vineyard using sangiovese with 10% colorino. In this great Tuscan vintage it has led to an intense yet perfumed complex Chinati Rufina with floral, red berry and leather notes, well balanced firm tannins and a long refreshing finish.
This blend of 50% merlot with 20% cabernet sauvignon, 20% cabernet franc and 10% petit verdot has a wonderfully full-bodied fully fruited style. Aged in French oak for 15 months this well supports the intense blackberry and cassis notes, given elegance by refreshing acidity that carries the finish.
Rising star Francesco Ripaccioli’s ‘Rosso’ is a superb introduction to the haunting elegance and superb quality he is becoming known for. Black-cherry and plum flavour supported by firm tannins and subtle spice which will develop even more nuance if decanted.
A true Vino Nobile worthy of the name, courtesy of a distinguished cellar in the heart of Montepulciano. This stands out for its strawberry and leather perfume and spicy, naturally sweet but gentle flavour enhanced further by a great vintage.
