Domaine des Bérioles
Domaine des Bérioles is an eight-hectare property in the historic appellation of Saint-Pourçain, which lies on the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostella.
Odile and Olivier Teissèdre started in 1989 with three hectares of vineyards, extended to seven hectares in 2010 with the addition of chardonnay and the local white grape tréssallier. The vineyards of are worked, and the grapes picked, by hand.
The red wines are made from gamay – grown on granitic soils as in Beaujolais – and pinot noir on chalky clay soils. Young Jean Teissèdre returned to his family's domaine in 2011, after spending time in a variety of other French wine regions.
