Winter Savings Whites
A lovely fruity chardonnay from outside Carcassonne in the south of France, where the slightly cooler climate allows the grapes to flourish. Pennautier is the outstanding estate in this area.
The ribolla gialla grape, most often to be found in north-east Italy, offers a characterful tangy dry white with notes of lime, almond, peach skin and preserved lemon. It pairs wonderfully with food, from simple salads to roast pork.
This is supplied to us by Languedoc producer Domaine du Bosc, whose diversity of grape varieties allows them to play to the strengths of the vintage in this part of France. Aromatic, and delightful, with a light touch.
Generously flavoured greco from Guardiense's best vineyard and lower yields. A fuller-bodied white with a mouthcoating texture, attractive apricot and peach fruit and balanced refreshing, slightly saline finish. Great value for an Italian wine of such quality.
A full, rich, savoury white from this famous estate in Gascony. The local gros manseng grape accounts for 40% of the blend with chardonnay, sauvignon and semillon. There are peaches and pine, and some sweetness though the finish is dry.
