Xinomavro Naoussa, Domaine Karydas 2018

Red Wine from Greece
0 star rating 0 Reviews
A Greek xinomavro from the Gastra sub-district which produces some of the most tannic and structured wines of Naoussa. The nose is fragrant and spicy with plenty of cedar, incense, dried cherries and strawberries. The palate is rich thanks to the warm 2018 vintage with plenty of ripe tannins providing structure.

Bricky rim with deeper core but still quite mature-looking. Tomato leaf and dried fruits. Still pretty tannic. I find this to be in a rather awkward stage of evolution, some mature Xinomavro flavours but still rather tough. I wouldn't want to drink this for a few years but I am not sure it is sufficiently balanced for a long life, even though xinomavro has a habit of looking quite evolved in aroma and flavour relatively early in its life. 15.5/20
