Domaine Armand Rousseau 2015
Superb, opulent and balanced red Burgundy
I am delighted to offer this selection of 2015s from the highly sought-after domaine of Rousseau.
This is one of the best vintages of the last 20 years. The tannins are some of the ripest and sweetest I have ever tasted. They are on the ripe side yet beautifully balanced, and finish with a lovely freshness. There is good definition of terroir and these wines have a long life ahead of them.
In order to manage the demand, and to enable as many members as possible to try these wines, orders can only be placed by calling 01438 741177 where they will be entered into our allocation system.
One of the greatest domaines in Burgundy
Rousseau has impressive holdings in the best vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, where they make wines in a medium-bodied, elegant style. They are understated, particularly in their youth, but mature splendidly, appearing to put on weight with bottle age, developing ever more exquisite and complex aromas over time.

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Cazetiers 2015
Cazetiers is very successful, fine and long-flavoured in 2015. The combination of a cool vineyard (this is from the Combe de Lavaux) in a ripe year makes a beautifully balanced Burgundy. 13%

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2015
With intense, black-fruit aromas, this shows off the remarkable balance of the vintage, being ripe, round and full yet beautifully fresh on the finish too. 13.5%

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015
As the name 'Charmes' suggests, this is a very appealing and generous Burgundy. It is not a blockbuster, yet beneath the extrovert character there is a serious wine with good ageing potential. 13.5%

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques 2015
A wonderfully elegant Burgundy with an intense and powerful nose and great length of flavour. This combination of great intensity, elegance and persistence of flavour is as delightful as it is rare. 13.5%

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2015
Sitting on a small hump, Rousseau's Clos de Bèze vineyard is always more 'solaire', intercepting more sun, says Eric Rousseau, relative to their Chambertin holding. Consequently the wine is a touch sweeter and rounder than Le Chambertin. The opulent fruit is now starting to sink into the dense sea of tannins as the wine closes up, as the 2015 Burgundies are starting to do now. Keep it and it will emerge into a great beauty of a wine. 13.5%

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Chambertin Grand Cru 2015
A serious, brooding Burgundy of great potential, yet very closed at present. One can discern its great density and concentration of flavour. The tannins are of the utmost ripeness and present in enormous quantity. But such is their quality that they do not dominate the well-proportioned palate. 13.5%
