"A beaut of a wine here - kicking off with lavender and flowers to the scent, a jammy strawberry tart to the taste with leathery undertones. A great find for the price, and one we'll be getting more of."

"I thought this wine was OK.
Medium bodied and light oak flavour as indicated in the Wine Society notes is a fair reflection of what it is.
It is pleasant but the taste didn't stay in my mouth for long after taking each sip.
Fair value for the price but not a bargain."

"2nd bottle (I left a review last autumn) and has improved after several months in a cold garage. Excellent value, could easily be a £12 to £14 bottle. Certainly new world in terms of body and ripeness, yet the classic Tempranillo & oak flavours still shine through. Better on day 2 with a chance to open up."

"Tasted blind this could be a St Emillion, with the concentration of a 2010 grand cru: leather and deep fruit with a touch of oak & tannin. Except there are strawberry notes instead of plum, and American oak not French. I imagine it will improve with age, which isn't something one expects for under £8.

"This has the swagger of a Gaucho - a manly oaky and leather tan to set against herbal and floral berries. Added, it has the character of a Latino cowboy riding across your taste buds to bring you a not so elegant yet ruggedly charming (and lingering) ardour of YES - a winner!
It cries out for spice in your food (namely cumin) and will set against a lightly. but not a hotly flavored meat dish. I bought 2 to try - smitten, as were my friends. WS doing a great deal on a brilliant wine. Now i'm ordering at least 6 more"

"Tempranillo is not my favourite grape, but this is a really interesting wine. I believe Carrascal is the cheapest offering from the splendid Weinert stable that is currently available via The Wine Society, and this one just might be the best value-for-money wine of the bunch. It's a fruit-forward, fresh tasting, reasonably full-bodied tempranillo, with a touch of creamy oak and a lovely lavender nose. Very nice. Very nice indeed."
