Suduiraut is one of finest châteaux in this part of Bordeaux, recognised during the famous 1855 Classification as a 'Premier Cru', and 1998 was considered to be a good vintage. The development of noble rot – the magical ingredient that imbues Sauternes with its unique character and complexity of flavour – was successful, ensuring a finely balanced, delicious wine. Made mainly from semillon, with 10% sauvignon blanc included in the blend to add freshness, this 20-year-old wine has a deep golden colour and a nose of caramelised apples and lanolin. Now at its drinking peak, this is a fully mature, broad and satisfying Sauternes with finely balanced sweetness and acidity.
