The commune of Pauillac produced some excellent wines in 2011, in a fresher style than the two preceding vintages, and the best are now developing handsomely in bottle. Some have likened the vintage to 2001.
This delicious claret, concentrated and classically honed with well-integrated tannins and considerable length, hails from the heart of Pauillac, from one of the area’s best-known properties, and it is bottled under the same exacting conditions as the grands vins.
Those who enjoy their wines with the more muscular, lithe frame of youth should already enjoy this wine, especially if it is generously decanted. Others may rest safe in the knowledge that it has a proven track record for cellaring and enjoy it with further bottle age, to 2025, or even beyond, according to taste. A concentrated, classically honed claret with well-integrated tannins and considerable length.
