2014 VINTAGE - MEMBER REVIEWS
"Colour: Radiant and clean, pale golden yellow.
Aroma: Good intensity, a fresh saline quality, unripe fruit, green apple, pineapple, lemon, orange blossom and a lovely lager/yeast note
Taste: Bone-dry, light in body, sharp acidity that almost overwhelms the creamy albeit chewy texture. More apple, pear and citrus on the palate with a tingling mouth drying finish.
Overall: This is great, biting acidity, juicy and fresh. The lees ageing is evident but not as heavy as I was expecting, not complaining though. If you like this style and good value this is a must."
Mr Gabriel Higgins (01-Jan-2021)
"What a terrific wine! I'm no expert on Muscadet and suspect this is somewhat atypical, but as for depth, complexity and richness I would be happy using this as a substitute for a good quality Chardonnay. It's probably more suited to being a food wine rather than an aperitif. My favourite Muscadet to date by far."
Mr Nigel Skelsey (04-Dec-2019)
"Another very disappointing wine. Totally unremarkable with barely a hint of muscadet in evidence. Pleasant white wine of no discernible character."
Mrs Gail Moore (26-Aug-2019)
"A complex and enjoyable Muscadet. Extended time on the lees gives interesting flavours. Lemon sherbert, fennel, lime and grapefruit with a beautiful minerality. Definitely not your run of the mill Muscadet "
Ms Lisa Harlow (01-Jul-2019)
"Crisp, bone dry with some lemon curd and lanolin on the nose. The palate has some melon notes, and a long grapefruit finish. A very nice wine."
Mr Nick Beecheno (19-Jan-2019)
"difficult to imagine a better wine for shellfish from anywhere in the world.
But I've just had some with plaice and spinach. I could have opened a nice fat burgundy but this was beautiful and completely grown up.
If you believe in terroir and local typicality you will struggle to find a more local wine than this. Perhaps manzanilla, ok chablis-but only the traditional kind (modern chablis is impressing more by how different it can be, not how typical).

Mr Rory Todd (06-Oct-2018)
"Tried as an aperitif, it was much too acidic. Taste likes asparagus and white vinegar. Might be ok with fish and chips. "
Mr Ralphie Keane (09-Sep-2018)
"Fantastic Muscadet and great value. Great body and depth and wonderful fresh crisp classic Muscadet flavours"

"Lovely wine. Mr Long's review sums it up perfectly."
Mr Andrew Watson (21-Oct-2018)
"For the money £12.50 per bottle I was disappointed and will stick to my long time favourite Muscadet Servre et Maine sur Lie Domaine des Ratelles currently £7.25 per bottle much better value for money."
Mr David W Bailey (05-Sep-2017)
"More fruit and body than basic Muscadet but the same refreshing aftertaste. This is a really delightful wine and extremely good value. I thought I was going to buy Chablis but came away with this and was very glad to do so!"

nose with an enticing saline note. Purity and precision of stony white floral

"Three of us drank this wine one evening. The earlier comment about saltiness certainly rang a bell. I found it slightly hard work but others suggested stewed pears."
Ms Louise Everatt (06-Aug-2016)
"Lovely wine!! Lemon, honeyed pear and a ever so slight sea salt finish. A real complex wine which will last for years still"
Mr Stuart J Fraser (04-Jun-2016)
"An aged muscadet! Very rounded and mineral in character.Would not have guessed at its age as still fresh.Nice honeyed pear notes.Really good"
Mr Jeff Garner (19-Mar-2016)
"A little more expensive than many Muscadet-sevre et Maine but well worth the extra. Really pleasant."

"
Not the
best and most expensive wine just because it's been aged a bit, but because
it has a richness and fullness that is rare in Muscadet without losing its
vital acidic backbone. It's a very good wine, and passed the test of fish and
chips with aplomb.

"Pale, just a tinge of
gold, for a wine that is nearly 10 years old. The nose is equally understated,
a bit of sweet lemon and cobnuts. Markedly savoury, a little bit of pear peeps
through the spice-charged depth of the wine. Cardamom and coriander seed and
that liquorice flavour of caraway. A very intriguing wine! It's not lean,
exactly - it has a certain weight of presence in the mouth - but it steers well
clear of any juicy fleshiness. Quite aloof. Not showing any signs of ageing.
Perhaps it's the caraway, but it has a minimalistic, cool, yet impressive
character that makes me think Scandinavian. Would need careful food pairing,
but it's a fascinating wine! 17/20 - Tamlyn Currin"

"Palatable and delicious, light but with enough flavour to perk the interest. A very long way from usual expectations of Muscadet. But for nearly £12 there are so many delicious wines - I can think of half a dozen just from the Society's Spanish whites selection for starters - that I would question this one's value for money."
Dr Timothy M G Ward (28-Apr-2014)
"I keep coming back to this wine and hope TWS have the next vintage waiting in the Stevenage warehouse. Really this is excellent, absolutely balanced and unbelievable that it is a 10 y/o muscadet."
Mr Tim Potts (03-Mar-2014)
"Ethereal, delicate and refreshing which is surprising considering its age, no oxidisation or taint whatsoever. Probably the best white I've tasted this year. Most prestige bottling's go for power and depth; but this wine is lightness, iris, white flowers and sea breeze. Very, very fine indeed. A credit to TWS and the wine maker's skill.

"Weirdly wonderful, very smooth like it has undergone a malolactic fermentation. Lovely wine."
Alastair J P Gilks Esq (22-Sep-2013)
"Truly an excellent wine, the equal to a premier cru Burgundy with richness and depth, yet retaining the unique character of muscadet. Superb with a platter of smoked trout, gravadlax and whole prawns with homemade mayonaise. A wine made without compromise."
Mr Tim Potts (14-Jul-2012)
