"Really enjoyed this wine. Crisp and fruity. Served nice and chilled on a hot day with chicken... lovely"
Mr Paul Keating (20-Sep-2020)
Mr Jason Donovan (26-Jul-2020)
"Serve well chilled and it is a delight!"
Mr Grant Burrup (23-Apr-2020)
"I'm going to go against the grain here. We loved this pottering about the house between Christmas and New Year. Highly aromatic and nicely dry. "
Dr Pippa Lane (02-Jan-2020)
"I would agree with Mr Wayne - it's 'alright' and, somewhat constrained by my wife's penchant for Sauv Blanc, I'd drink this. But, for a SB from Malborough, it's a bit flowery, off dry, a bit like an unoaked Chardonnay, but with a slightly weird taste.
The alcohol content saves it, I suspect."
Dr John Bolton (23-Dec-2019)
"Very disappointed with the 2019. We have been buying it for a few years now -my wife only drinks Sauv B and this has always been her everyday favourite. Strange taste and does not compare with more commercial varieties ( Villa Maria et al) at the same price point."
Mr Philip Wayne (18-Dec-2019)
"2019 isn't a good year for Stoneburn.
A bit "watery" compared to 2017 and 2018.
I'll still drink it (!) but now I need to find something else to stock up with."
Mr James Duncan (24-Nov-2019)

"I really enjoyed this wine and preferred it to the Society's own label NZ Sauvignon Blanc, although no criticism of the latter. "
Mr Richard G Faber MS FRCS (02-Aug-2019)
"Lovely peachy aroma. An example of what everyone thinks of as NZ sauvignon blanc. Really quite dry: too dry for me but my wife loved it and told me to buy some more!"
Mr Martin Burgess (30-Mar-2019)
"I didn't enjoy this wine, it had an odd phenolic "tarry" aspect to the nose and searing acidity on the palate with none of the gooseberry and hay like notes one associates with a good Sauvignon Blanc. I won't be ordering more."
Mr Alan Stewart (09-Mar-2019)
Mrs Victoria Storer-Young (24-Feb-2019)
"Rather monodimensional for my taste - dry citrus finish, but lacking in mouthfeel"
Mr Philip Stirups (18-Feb-2019)
"Dryer than one might expect, slightly mineral in nature with pleasing citrus. Full of flavour and an excellent choice for a solid fish dish.
I will be adding a few more to my next order."
Mr Roger Godfrey (07-Dec-2018)

"A more sophisitcated wine than the Rata which we have for every day, Stoneburn is excellent value and a wine we have bought often."

"This vinous gem from
family producer Hunter’s has no shortage of flavour. Boasting a compilation of
bright passion fruit, nectarine and ruby grapefruit, it’s also accompanied by
nuances of green capsicum and grass. Crack open for chicken tikka masala, Thai
green curry with seafood or chicken, Thai crab cakes or prawn and veggie
(especially tomato-based) curries. This estate-bottled stunner delivers bags of
flavour and is a bargain at the price. - James Viner"

Ms Maha Atal (21-Jan-2018)
"Dry crisp and acidic and a lovely wine."
Mrs Caroline Robertson (14-Oct-2017)
"Not so keen on this. Loads of nose but a rather sharp aftertaste and a bit thin. Not one to revisit for me."
Mr Michael Ahlquist (26-Aug-2017)
Mr Patrick O'Brien (02-Jul-2017)
"Steely crisp flavour. No so in your face as some NZ sauvignon blancs."

"A pleasant example of its kind. I doubt whether at a blind tasting I would be able to tell the difference between this and more expensive Sauvignon Blancs. In my view it can safely be recommended."
Neil Butter Esq (05-Aug-2016)
"This wine is excellent, good value for money and otstanding SB characteristics for the price range."
Dr Peter Wright (06-Apr-2016)
"This is a great favourite with us, we have tried many Kiwi Sauvignon Blancs available from the Wine Society and this one consistently shines. Great balance and a lovely wine for the price."

"
Just to
prove that The Wine Society doesn't only deal in the quirky, here's a very
well-made example of that most popular of UK styles, Kiwi Sauvignon. Made by
Hunter's, one of the original Sauvignon pioneers in New Zealand, it's rather
less pungent and green than some, shimmering instead with lime and
elderflower and racy acidity. 87/100

"Sadly this is simply not as good as (slightly dearer) alternatives such as The Ned or Wither Hills. There is a rather harsh acidity to the wine which spoils the finish. Pity."

"Vibrant, exciting, in your face flavours. This fruity Sauvignon blanc is everything we have come to expect from NZ and more. Compared it with a Sauvignon for the same price from a supermarket. Simply no comparison, I highly recommend Stoneburn Sauvignon for something with real character."
Mr Luke Howell (14-Aug-2013)
"The review before says it all, nicely balanced with fruit and zing, we tried a number of Sauvignon blancs from the list and this stood out as a much more expensive tasting wine."
Mr Martin Peart (05-Jul-2013)
"Once upon a time, a few years ago, it was possible to go to a wine seller and for £5.99 or thereabouts obtain a bottle of a very good Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand which would have compared in quality with a more expensive wine from France. Some very good wines and famous names could be obtained in this way. We thought that this halcyon era would last but alas more dilute and inferior wines made their way on to the market at the crucial price of £5.99. The party could not last for ever. Now those classy bargains are but a memory and it is time to be realistic. This Stoneburn wine is a wine of quality. It is full of fruit and depth and makes a pleasing glass of wine, reminiscent of its £5.99 brethren of days gone by. It is the most inexpensive NZ sauvignon on the list but is thoroughly worth the money and I intend to keep it in my cellar. Confidently recommended."

The Wine Gang (18th Feb 2013)
"A typical bouncing-off-the-walls Marlborough Sauvignon with ripe passion fruit, mango and pineapple tropical flavours that delivers all the zesty punch you could want from such a style of wine. Juicy but with a thread of minerality and fresh grip of acidity keeping it tight from start to finish, all of which makes it very decent value for money. 87/100"
Hampstead & Highgate Express (7th Feb 2013)
"Stoneburn is at the lighter end of the spectrum with a touch of tarness on the finish which I like - one suggestion of a food match is crumbly Lancashire cheese, which might be just right.- Liz Sagues"

"A lovely "gluggable" version of SB. Nothing too complex here but for the price it offers superb value and you certainly don't feel guilty about finishing the bottle, not as tart as I expected and good fruit showing through."
Mr Jan de Clare (29-Oct-2012)
"Delicious, fruity and lingering. I am a Southern Hemisphere fan so maybe I am biased but I loved it. Came to this page to buy some more only to find it out of stock!! Wrote this review instead.
