"Raats makes incredibly good Chenin Blanc at fantastic prices.
This example is big on body and character.
Nose of honeysuckle before fresh fruit flavours of peach, melon and a touch of tropical pineapple.
Lovely mouthfeel brings this all together. Another excellent Chenin."
Mr Stephen McGarry (23-Feb-2020)
"I found this very average and not to my taste. Difficult to describe, but maybe not as dry or crisp as I would like."
Dr David Bryson (31-Jul-2019)
"An honest and clean chenin, well made, but without any great depth of character. Good enough, but, perhaps £1+ over-priced for what it is, given that WS is not for profit. Might be the weakness of the GBP though. Down 50% against even the yen over a decade or so. "

"Bruwer Raats is known
for its chenin, the key white grape of South Africa, and this example has
citrus fruit, green apples and more than a hint of complexity. - Jamie Goode"

"A delicious white wine, just the right balance of dry plus sharp. One sip and I instantly want another!"
Miss Tamsin John (03-Dec-2018)
"Really nice white wine I would definitely recommend it. no harshness what’s so ever I savoured every drop"
Mr Joe Sweeney (12-Nov-2018)
"Really nice stuff - beautifully round and floral, with classic stone-fruit notes, but with a beautiful spine of acidity running through it that keeps it focussed and clean. Great on its own, but I'm sure it would be brilliant with creamy pasta. "

"This is a taught, clean and focussed chenin. Not in the rich, indulgent style, it has freshness and zip on the nose, with attractive green apple, pear and quince notes. The palate is crisp and refined and has a refreshing seam of acidity. A mineral streak lingers on the finish. Top quality."
Mr Christopher Munday (04-May-2018)
"Promising bouquet but taste lacks chenin character. I think the WS description " pure, clean palate" sums up the bland character of this wine. At the same price the Coteaux du Vendomois ( LO13151) is a more memorable example of chenin. The two tasted side by side would be interesting."
