Brothers Xabi and Iñaki run the forward-thinking Zorzal estate, whose wines are always among the most popular at our annual Spanish tastings. Whether that’s down to Xabi’s charm and relaxed attitude or the quality of their old-vine, new-style wines is up for debate; but we believe it’s a perfect combination – one that makes him an ideal candidate to share their story with as many members as possible online.
The winery, based in the Ribero Baja area of Navarra, produces wines from the family’s 70 hectares of vines. Whilst they specialise in old-vine garnacha and graciano, the estate also grows tempranillo, mazuelo, merlot and cabernet sauvignon.
Their wines were often described as punching well about their price point and in return for early payment to help them during this difficult time, the brothers have offered members an even better deal on two of their reds (see below).
Join Pierre Mansour, Director of Wine and buyer for Spain, as he and Xabi Sanz take a virtual trip to Navarra to discover what makes this winery so special followed by a chance for members to ask Xabi some questions. Whilst you don’t need to have a Zorzal wine to enjoy this presentation, we do encourage you to support the brother by taking advantage of the special offer they have given us and raising a glass to them at this challenging time.
