Is Blackbook London’s best kept wine secret? Maybe! This Battersea-based urban winery is the creation of Sergio Verrillo, and his wife Lynsey and has one mission – ‘to make bloody good wine’. The focus is on pinot noir and chardonnay, varieties which they buy in from vineyards around the UK to make their still wines and the proof, quite frankly, is in the pudding with an ever-growing collection of awards.
We’re so thrilled that Sergio can join us to celebrate English Wine Week alongside our buyer for English wine, Matthew Horsley. They’ll be discussing the story of the winery, the focus on quality and the styles of wine amongst many other things.
Whilst there are no specific wines to taste during this event, we do encourage you to purchase some of the Blackbook wines to get the most out of this experience. The wines are available here.
And if you can’t get hold of Sergio’s and Lyndsey’s wine then we encourage you to support English Wine Week with something else home-grown if you can!
For those on the lookout for wines from off-the-beaten track, or newcomers to fine wine – this is the event for you!
