"Pleasant enough but I feel it is too sweet to be labelled as a medium dry. Probably better served as a dessert wine than an aperitif as it does remind me of a medium Madeira. "

"Remarkable value: blind tasted alongside [other merchant's]. Whilst the two from other sources were pleasant, they had nothing to match the enormous flavour this revealed. Lighter in body but allowing the wine to circulate the taste buds produced an astonishing zappy flavour. Having had a break from WS sherry for twenty years or so, what a comeback and what a welcome discovery"

"I am a regular buyer of Amontillado sherry from theWine Society and liked the look of this one. We were disappointed that it is described as "Medium Dry" where as I would describe it as medium sweet. It is much sweeter than our normal medium dry amontilados and lacks any depth of flavour. We won't be buying this again and will return to our normal purchases."

"Colour: Bright golden amber brown.
Aroma: Intense and complex, apricots, walnut, peanut, coffee, raisins, fruitcake, prunes, orange peel, varnish, tea, caramel and saline.
Taste: Full and viscous, vibrant acidity, smooth and long across the palate. Flavours include ginger biscuits, citrus peel, strong tea and apricot with an enduring spicy walnut finish.
Overall: A lovely mellow sherry, not as sweet as I was expecting. Nothing overpowering, lovely depth to the palate and well-balanced. Great value for money, highly recommend."

"If I've run out of this I get Harvey's Amontillado - now renamed for some reason I don't understand. This ie the Wine Society's - is a much better sherry."

"This is extraordinary value for money. It's a very rich and pretty complex amontillado with perhaps more upfront sweetness than might be expected. But there are a lot of flavours jostling in there. The finish is long-lasting. A delight and will continue to be a regular repeat order for me."

"This wine is something that can be shared and enjoyed by both those who like sweet sherry and those who like dry sherry. The flavours in the wine are quite complex and bring back many happy memories of holidays in the heat of the Province of Cadiz in Spain."

"This has been a standby for well over 30 years (eheu fugaces...). Consistently reliable, except for a few cork tainted bottles from the early 2000s onwards, so I am delighted to see that my latest delivery has reverted to the screw cap that seemed to be standard in the 1980s. I too have had occasional batches that seemed a bit more 'UK' in taste - a little sweeter than ideal and certainly sweeter than I had come to expect of this wine - but generally this has given great and predictable pleasure. My only jib nowadays is the price - at £9.50 a litre it doesn't seem as much of a bargain compared with, for example, the Maribel Amontillado at £7.50 a bottle."

"This wine has been exceptional value for money for the several years I have drunk it. Amongst the excellent selection of sherries rightly championed by the Society, it holds its head up as a reliable wine for family drinking and for entertaining, in which contexts it is always appreciated. Always have a "spare" bottle!"

"First time on this. Good value at the price for a litre. I found the wine had a good Amontillado flavour but overall it is too sweet for me. I wonder if its adapted for the UK market. I will try another Amontillado next time."
