"Here’s one that definitely goes under the radar. Hugely enjoyable and the description is bang on: good concentration of flavour. And a very satisfying hit of alcohol I might add. "

"Now this was interesting and something a little different. More often than not Monastrell/Mourvèdre is a ‘blending’ grape and reasonably uncommon on its own. However it’s known, it has a reputation for being astringent, full-bodied and rustic.
On opening you get tarry smoke, warm gravel, even herby, meaty aromas. Underneath, violet and spicy dark fruit. Plenty of tightly packed tannins but not overpowering. I wouldn’t describe it as a ‘fruit-forward’ wine - rustic is definite the key word. Not the smoothest of wines or possessed of the most finesse, but it is an interesting wine and has great character. Recommended. And drink with food. "

"Can only presume that everyone else got a different batch, as the bottles I had were thin, acidic and tannic."

"Not for me - I can see why monastrell (mourvèdre) is better in blends. Too agricultural. "

"An absolute find for this price point. Concentrated cherry, blueberry and blackberry with underlying black pepper jump out on the nose, and after a chance to open up a subtle savoury smoked meat aroma began to pop up. While the palate reflects the concentrated fruit flavours they're not quite as pronounced as the aromas unfortunately. The high tannins and alcohol make this a very full bodied wine but the finish is still somewhat elegant, it only scores 3 stars looking at it subjectively but in terms of bang for your buck its a real winner."

"Very impressed with this, think it punches above it's price bracket - full and fruity palate, with a rich finish. Loads of warming black and red fruit flavours with spices and good tannins. Very good balance. Would buy again!"
