"Quite stunning flavour- this has a quite intense grip that fills the palette immediately. Exactly why, some 30 years ago, I fell in love with the WS range. I have a few to try yet, but this is a CLEAR leader. I think this is incredible value!"

"I can’t add a lot to what’s already been said. This is a fabulous sherry. All of the nuttiness is there, brandy, burnt raisins... not too sweet and not too dry either; just about spot on - and for the price it’s outstanding value. I’ll definitely be buying more, and I’d implore you to do the same!"

"Caramel colour fading at the edge. Intense aromas of raisins, candied peel, toasted hazelnuts. As described a slightly off-dry taste. Rich and complex with oak, bruised apple and plump tea-soaked raisins . Tasty long finish"

"We just love this Jerez! Rich and delicious. What more is there to say. Always in our fridge. Don't need to worry about being open more than 4 weeks, it doesn't last that long! "

"I cant say it any better than Dr Josh:
"There are a lot of contenders for the accolade of best-value wine in the Society's list, but this currently gets my vote. Beautifully complex nose of brandy-soaked raisins, toasted nuts, dried figs, coffee, cocoa and lots more. If sherry weren't so unfashionable I'd expect (and be more than willing) to pay well over twice as much: if there's a better wine of any style available at this price then I don't know it.""

"Little to add to the previous accolades but to implore you to buy it. A wonderful dryish, nutty even dated drink. We started on the £8 models from the Society and [another merchant], but this is certainly worth the upgrade."

"Wow! Right in the middle of the range of sherry tastes, this is absolutely gorgeous, with a beautiful warm colour to match. I often organise dinners for a dining club of 15-25 people, with a pre-prandial drink, normally a fizz. Suddenly, I see how to make our funds go so much further. A bottle makes 9 good sherry glasses for £12.95: what value, and what a pleasurable way of changing the pattern!"

"This is exceptional. It's the first time I give a wine 5 stars. The colour, the aroma and the palate are superb. Great balance of flavours and acidity, excellent structure. Really something to be enjoyed.
Well done WS!"

"All of the society description is justified. But what happened to Sanchez Romate's stunning Viecho Oloroso Secco that the society used to stock? This version is getting too sweet for my taste."

"Sherry is one of life's undersung pleasures and this oloroso proves why: other positive reviewers have proficiently listed its many attractions so all I can say that an unending case of this sherry would be my luxury on a Desert Island. It goes with so many of my favorite foods, especially at Christmas - please read the burble about it - and although I try to give it up for Lent, am rarely successful."

"A lovely, deep, warming nose, but not alcoholic, nuts, dried fruit, raisins, figs, plums and also fresh notes of very ripe yellow apples, as well as hints of tea and roast meat. Full body, with gamey notes, a hint of roast almonds, and coffee in the finish.

"I was rather disappointed by this in that the added fortification seemed somehow not well integrated. This mystifies me since this should be a well made reputable oloroso, round luscious and rich where there is no sense of the added alcohol apart from the warmth and sense of well being! This may be carping however. The Christmas pudding did not complain and I will happily finish both bottles purchased."

"Absolutely superb. Tried it when I went to the Cellar Showroom to collect some other wine and promptly bought two bottles. It also went down really well at a Hertfordshire Wine School 'Wines for Christmas' tasting. Can't wait to show it to the in-laws with the Christmas Pudding. Five stars!"

"I'm a sherry fan, and increasingly find fino & manzanilla to be my choice ahead of white wine as an aperitif, but I'm still getting acquainted with some of the heavier styles. This was something of a revelation, rich, complex & intense, a great way to round off a meal."

"We tried a blind tasting between the Oloroso, Lustau East India Solera (Waitrose) and Tesco Finest Jerez Xeres Special Reserve Cream Sherry, The Oloroso won, followed by the Lustau not far behind, with Tesco bringing up the rear a long way behind. The Oloroso is top notch."

"Couldn't agree more with the Society's blurb about this. It is a fabulous wine at a very good price, with immense complexity and style, multiple layers of flavour and with a finish that seems to go on forever. Had a glass with some 'paleta iberico', which is just about the best thing one can do at 11 in the morning."

"Magnificent. An oloroso dulce without the sweetness. The richness softens the dryness. A sherry to drink with cheese, pudding or on its own after dinner. Too rich for an aperitif. Think of it as a 20 year old tawny port without the sweetness. A wine like no other in the world."
