"This is a lovely wine, reminiscent of good Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carmenere is a grape that Chile does much better than elsewhere especially Concha y Toro. I've had wines from Chile that cost more and are nowhere near as good."

"Chilean Reds display consistent quality and good value and this example from the well thought of Concha y Toro stable, does not disappoint. Rich, well rounded with numerous fruit and pepper notes and some finish is worthy of a repeat order. "

"A fine carmenere. Good value, peppery and full of flavour. The Wine Society supplies some excellent Chilean reds that do not break the bank"

"Really easy drinking straight from opening. Gentle black fruit coming through, not a complex a wine, very simple but pleasant. A happy glugger."

"I make no apologies for my second review. Drinking over the Christmas period. Opened a bottle to complement cold meats and a pork herb stuffing. Served at a slightly chilled. It was superb and finished off the day’s proceedings nicely.
Highly recommended."

"Interesting nose of green bell pepper. The palate has very little identifiable fruit, just a lot of residual sugar. Had two mouthfuls and then used the rest to braise some beef cheeks. "

"This is excellent stuff. We usually buy at the £20 level and we had bought the Candelabro Carmenere. This is better. Absolutely no “after effects” - almost as if this was organic. Truly excellent value. Reminds me a bit of Terrunyo."

"I took a chance on some reds priced under £10 and this was one of them. Won't make that mistake again. Little to love in this young, tannic, simplistic wine."

"Really liked this. Very nice to drink on its own, although it worked well with a bbq. My son wasn't so keen because I think this grape is quite distinctive and full of flavours that may not be right for everyone. Our friends first comment however was, "ooh that's nice"."

"This a great example of Carmenère in my opinion and I am a fan if the grape. It packs a punch with full juicy fruit and then the characteristic spice to finish. Love this to drink on its own or with a nice bowl of pasta with a tomato sauce. Great price as well. Highly recommended."

"A 3.5 rating . Classic Carmenère characteristics of smoke/dust together with cherry, plum. Good value for less than £8 but I don't think this showcased the best of this grape which with the best examples can be really special. "

"Was lucky to buy a case of this at intro price of 6.95 a bottle... 83 for 12. Agree with previous review and especially in terms of more full than medium bodied. Almost as good as the WS Chilean cab sauv for 'bang for buck' but a different animal, green pepper delivery then autumn fruits. Really enjoying the Chilean reds and shows that you don't need to spend more than £7-8 or so to experience quality wines. To me, this and the WS Cab Sauv is what the Society is all about. Top quality but affordable wines. "

"Value wise, this wine is right up there. The tasting notes state that this is a medium bodied wine, personally I would say this more of a full bodied number. Beautiful lingering liquorice and blackberry taste on the palate. Really enjoyed this carmenere. Would definitely recommend. "
