"Not quite what it has sometimes been? Carping really, because just short of wonderful is still excellent, but this time round it seemed a little 'thinner'. Still delicious though and excellent value."

"Pale straw coloured. Dry. Tart and refreshing with salt, oak, and lingering acidity. A pleasant aperitif, though thin and lacking depth. But for £7 excellent value. 3* for the sherry 5* for value = 4* overall "

"This must surely be the best bargain on the Wine Society list; this simply radiates fine-boned, racy, high toned sherry notes infused of salty-sea air with a slightly nutty finish. An absolute perfect match for the leg of Jamon I have at home right now."

"this is an excellent fino, with bracing salinity and flor overtones, together with nuttiness, complexity and length that comes with age. This is an extremely fine wine by any standards, and is well suited to pairing with any fish or shellfish dish, or as a refreshing aperitif. If, like me, you love good sherry, you will certainly be very impressed by this wine. For those who think they do not, please try it. You will not be disappointed! It must surely be the best value wine in the list, apart from the fino perdido and oloroso, which are very different, but just as good."

"I'm a relatively recent Fino convert, but this is my favourite of those on offer at the WS (I've tried them all) - and the cheapest. Salty and crisp from the fridge - a lovely savoury aperitif. I also recently tried a glass at room temperature and also v enjoyable as it gathers a little more sweetness! Highly recommended "

"Not sure how the reviews below relate to the bottles we had, the last time the Society's fino was purchased it lived up to its status, this was perfectly drinkable but also very average, obviously a different batch and a below par one, this was no better than other finos available for the same or less elsewhere, the Allegria and Solera where as usual very good. "A really delicious sherry with a full, savoury flavour. If you like a light, delicate fino then this is probably not for you. But for me the compexity and length of finish makes this a bargain. I bought this once before, several years ago, and was not impressed. Looking at the other reviews it is possible that there may be quite a bit of variance from one batch to another. Hopefully the quality will stay this high until my next order goes through."

"I saw this reviewed in a Sunday supplement recently which praised it highly, so I had to give it a go.
I’ve always turned to Tio Pepe for my fino in the past but decided to add a couple of bottles of this to a recent wine order to try it.
I was delighted to find this to be a really smooth and flavoursome dry sherry which is particularly moreish. I love it and am bowled over by the price. I’d be pleased to pay more for this, but I’ll keep that to myself in case the Wine Society put the price up..!
Chilling this to quite cold is my preference, and adding a bowl of olives to snack on while enjoying this would be quite delightful.
If you like a fino you must try this one."

"Reviews are polarised! At first, I didn't like it , but do persevere: it's an acquired taste, and I've come to think that it's really rather exceptionally worthwhile. It has a lemony, slightly musky tang: unusual, but I like it a lot. I find that it is best within a fairly narrow temperature range: slightly cooler than room temperature, but not overly chilled."

"After two weeks travelling around Andalucia and having fallen in love with finos, I ordered four bottles of this particular one to accompany a jamon iberico. Compared to the ones I had been drinking in Spain, I found this disappointingly thin, acidic and totally lacking depth or finesse. Relegated to paella dousing! "

"This must be one of the most foul tasting wines I've ever encounced. I like sherry types wines so I know what to expect.
This has a nasty bitter taste with a strong hint of sulphide. I just cannot image how I am so out of kilter with other reviews. I rarely send wines back. In this case the 2nd bottle will be returned."

"Simple amazing. You'd think it would be hard to make a fino Sherry for £6.25 that competes well with those selling for north of £10, but this is the real deal. It's crisp, dry, complex, long on the finish and extremely satisfying. Best value for money on the market."

P.S please don't raise the price and please don't stop stocking it - I can't think of another wine in the world that delivers the same quality to price ratio - except perhaps the Quinta de Azevedo Vinho Verde!"

"I agree this is a shift in style from the previous maker of the own label fino. It doesn't have quite the same refreshingly sharp edge. I don't mind that, and I enjoy this more accessible bottle. I also agree that this wine is best drunk fresh upon opening. However if you don't manage to see it off in a single sitting the remainder is excellent used in cooking (as a substitute to rice wine or as an additional flavour in stews, sauces and even a large dash in a risotto), and at this bargain price that doesn't seem such a crime."

"My initial reaction to this new Fino was not favourable but I am beginning to appreciate it a little more although I don't think it has a great depth of flavour. Sorry! I tend to be the "I know what I like," type of wine buff. I agree with Andrew Johnson; would you bring back the old Fino please, even if under another label.
This is the first time I have had anything but praise for one of the Society's wines.
