"Enthused by all the rave reviews for this vermouth, I thought I ought to try it. Sadly, I am very underwhelmed. It is dry. But that’s all that I can recommend about it. I found it one-dimensionally perfumed, lacking in nuance and overly alcoholic at 17.5% . I guess it works as a cocktail ingredient or for fish marinades but not, for me, as an aperitif. Disappointing and nowhere near the complexities of a Lustau vermouth. "

"Before now I had always been underwhelmed by vermouth. However Chambery is in another league; fresh, flavoursome, clean tasting. Delicious."

"In 2016 I strongly recommended this vermouth but only gave it 4 stars. A recent purchase has persuaded me to increase this to the maximum because I cannot see how it can be improved. A soft floral, rich taste makes this an outstanding example of an aperitif which can rarely be found in the UK.

"Fantastic dry floral vermouth - great 50/50 with soda and a slice of orange as recommended the The Guardian on a sunny day"

"I’ve only been drinking this in Martini’s. I have tried others but nothing comes close - now on my third order, always two bottles. Such great value. "

"This is much more refined and aromatic than the likes of the well known branded vermouths. With its delicate floral notes it makes a delicious aperitif just chilled on its own or with a twist of lemon and touch of ice. I've been drinking it for 40 years and don't understand why it's still such a rarity in the UK."

"This is a gem! Delicious scented yet crisp flavours make it a perfect pick-me-up. Perfect over ice with a slice of lemon. Doubtless it'd make an excellent dry martini too. "

"I thought I enjoyed Vermouth with Noilly Prat Red and White at the top of my list, that is until I found The Society's own label white. It does not need Gin or Vodka but makes an excellent mixer if that is your bag, taken on its own with a slice of citrus and ice is just heavenly."

"A few bottles are always on the list whenever I reorder - after which, always a bottle in the fridge until it's all gone. So good on its own that it never gets closer to the gin than sitting next to it in the fridge. Great value."

"This remains a favourite aperitif for me, preferably taken with ice and lemon and nothing else, but it seems to be relatively unknown in the UK. The Wine Society's version strikes me as being of high quality. Strongly recommended and very reasonably priced."

"This is a lovely (guilty secret?) pleasure. Years ago my Mother would keep a bottle of Cinzano and I would get a sip every now and then. Today The Society's Chambery brings back those memories and it is delicious. Straight from the fridge, the smallish splash of lemonade and an ice cube - it is now the Friday drink which breaks the weekday abstinence. Very much looking forward to trying it on a warm summer's evening."

"This is great value. I too always have a bottle in the fridge and serve with no ice, no lemon. Great as an aperitif or with a simple first course and don't use a small glass, just a regular wine glass."

"Having finished up the Xmas sherry and port I decided to set about this vermouth. Why I bought it in the first place I just do not know. I put it down to sheer curiosity but what a lucky find it has been. Now that my red wine orientated palate has acclimatised to the tangy taste it is a very appealing drink and as pleasant as it is on a winter evening I look forward to drinking it outside on the patio on a warm summer day. Due to its relatively high alcohol content I imagine it will keep well in the fridge but I'm not giving it the chance."

"I became a member of the Wine Society in 1974 and this is a constant in my orders since then. Fresh and tangy, it is a delight served chilled from the fridge with either lemon or lime."
