"
Expensive
but exquisite upmarket dry champagne, refreshing without any sourness,
leaving a clean but soft impression of yellow plums and pears.

"Still family-owned,
Pol Roger is one of the champagne greats, renowned for its fine, flowery,
traditional champagnes and adored by connoisseurs. Churchill once described Pol
Roger’s Epernay headquarters as “the world’s most drinkable address”.
Typically, even this house’s Pure Brut Nature, without a comforting dollop of
sweetening dosage, is sublime, all smouldering, smoky, creamy fruit, with a
lovely, lingering, beef-tea finish. Gorgeous now, greater next year. - Jane MacQuitty"

"Pol Roger is still my
favourite champagne house for pure, citric, sparkling joy – Pol Roger is one ?of the few independent houses left and one of
the few which has perfected the ‘Pure’ nil dosage ?style. The key is apparently to select grapes
from warmer vineyards and mature a little longer. A little drier than Pol
Roger’s normal Brut, but effortlessly elegant. - Rose Murray Brown"

"Pol Roger was Winston Churchill’s favourite champagne, and this celebrated house’s most exacting style is this no-dosage bubbly, made from equal portions of all three champagne grapes - chardonnay, pinots noir and meunier - from three different regions. Without that comforting dosage dollop of sugar and reserve wine, Extra Brut has nowhere to hide and its very fine pinhead bubbles and creamy mousse lead on to a magnificent, crisp, taut palate with lots of elegant, chalky, minerally fruit to the fore and a fine, smoky, toasted almond finish. - Jane MacQuitty"
