"I bought some of the 2018 in October '20, just opened a bottle this evening (21 March '21). Initial taste on opening, so so. Left it in the glass for an hour, hugely improved. Perhaps that explains the polarised opinions. For me, good value at £7.50. I find that Society reds at the lower end are often best left a few months. If you have the patience."

"
We loved this for a weeknight treat. It tasted of the countryside, so fresh and fruity. A little bit of a smoky incense aftertaste too. I found it fascinating!"

"Very distinct sour cherry taste. A bit unbalanced, maybe, but actually quite enjoyable."

"I think that it’s because on the bottle and on the nose it has the right stuff - but the taste it’s a tough drink. Bitter and thin. Poured it away. "

"A really interesting flavoursome wine. Medium bodied may be, but I think best savoured with a strong meal like tomato or pepper steak, or with cheese in place of port. If I were to drink it alone i'd find it too fruity and miss the hidden subtler flavours."

"The best thing about this wine is the label. It says its Merlot plus Manseng Noir, but the Merlot was barely detectable. Both my wife and I found it quite rough . A nice colour , but tastewise not remotely smoth or to be recommended. Laboured with it then poured a third of the bottle away."

"The wine was disappointing. I found it quite unpleasant with high astringency the dominant feature."

"I like this - a lot. It's fruity but also a little flinty. There are soft, well controllal tanins. Altogether, a winner for me. I am ordering more,"

"Initially fruit and spice on the nose. This follows through on tasting with bright flavours of cherry and raspberry to the fore. But the fruit is very quickly replaced by an overwhelming hit of astringency and some bitterness which really dries your mouth out. Not very pleasant and I couldn't drink much of it. Having said that, it was a "speculative" purchase so I'm not upset. It's nice to try some different wines, just a shame this wasn't to my taste."

"This is really going to polarise opinion! It's super fruity on the nose and as it warms up, lots of sour cherry. It's however very light and no real tannin. As a result, very easy to drink on its own and I do think this would make a great summer red. I think fans of Beaujolais may enjoy this, or fans of older style Italian reds. If you're into your huge reds I suspect you won't be a fan but I really enjoyed this as something different."

"This is a very approachable soft fruity medium bodied red wine.It is a blend of Merlot with Manseng Noir which is a rare old grape. Plaimont cooperative usually make good wines at competitive prices and this wine is a good pick."

"Despite the double grip references, the tannins are actually pretty soft....more issue of failure to check before posting..."

"In contrast to the previous reviewer, we happily got through the bottle with dinner. It’s not going to set the world alight but at £7.50 represents reasonable value for money. Decent grip, classic rustic south west french wine with good dark fruit and reasonable grip. Wouldn’t fancy drinking this on its own but worked fine with food. "
