2017 VINTAGE - MEMBER REVIEWS
Mr Angus Clark (24-Oct-2020)
"Full bodied and ripe. Wonderfully savoury with baked fruits . A balanced wine with medium tannins. All in all, a great drop "
Mr Bernard Feeney (28-Aug-2020)
"Individual taste is everything. This is a well constructed, even elegant bottle of wine. It has a wonderful open bouquet and smooth as silk on the palate. Unlike Mr Butler I don’t find the tannins excessive, and the length is impressive.
BUT for my taste there are too many other wines @ WS which are better VFM. A very pleasant experience but probably not to be repeated."
Dr Philip Dodd (22-May-2020)
"I completely agree with Mr Soorat Singh's comments of a year ago.......
This wine still needs to be decanted, left for an hour and then decanted back into the bottle. It is worth the wait - no wonder Pierre Perrin was chuffed with his creation. This will last well beyond 2023, but my supply will have long disappeared by then.
Highly recommended and a fair price to pay for character and satisfaction."
Mr Hugh A Potts (06-May-2020)
"Rich, dark and "figgy" fruits for sure, but the tannins are overwhelming and you end up feeling that you have to scrape your teeth after each glass, even after breathing for an hour or so. "
Mr Arthur Butler (03-Mar-2020)
"I would concur with my fellow members - ordered along with other Rhone wines and proved to be a fine reliable Cairanne - depth, good structure and nicely rounded rich fruit - a fine wine to sit down and quaff along with some fine cheese !"
Mr John Berger (21-Feb-2020)
"Has to be one of the best Rhones I've had in years. Lovely depth with cedary notes. Very satisfying."
Mr David P Gardner (16-Dec-2019)
"I really enjoyed this wine. It had great structure"
Mr Simon Cleasby (09-Jul-2019)
"I cannot believe that this has not sold out yet. Drink Rhone (John Livingston-Learmonth), the acclaimed Rhone expert gave this bargain wine FOUR STARS in his latest table of the best Cairanne wines of 2017. I would agree with him that it will probably require another year to be showing well. By then, it will be unobtainable everywhere and we will all be wishing that we had bought some for the turkey or game for Christmas 2020!! "
Soorat Singh Esq (21-May-2019)
"Well, I rather enjoyed this. Certainly full bodied and full of spice, fruit and notes of tobacco and forest. Well balanced and fruit integrated tannins. Certainly decent value for the price"
Mr Tom Rodger (10-May-2019)
"Vin ordinaire. Medium bodied which I had hoped would improve with some air. But it didn't. Wouldn't recommend it."
Mr Stephen Pettyfer (05-Apr-2019)
