MOST HELPFUL MEMBERS' REVIEWS:
"Initially the nose is closed-up, toasty, yeasty. With aeration the nose shows bramble. The mouthfeel is excellent, complex, full and satisfying, with very present yet gentle tannin and a lengthy finish that has a touch of smoke in the background. Dark fruit, blackcurrant, a hint of vanilla, herbaceous."

"Will Barry has nailed the tasting notes so I will add a couple of superficial additions. One of the first things you will notice is the weight of the bottle, the glass is unusually thick. Really. Secondly, I love the label, the design is very appealing and I think you'd happily pay twice the price of this in a restaurant.
Lastly, the wine, lots of black fruit, well balanced. Will picked up the vanilla notes, which was a good catch; the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak. However, I have an aversion to wines where vanilla is a prominent note. Rest assured that this is very subtle, hovering in the background. Otherwise, this wine would be consigned to the bin. However, am happy to confirm that it is a win. Easy to drink but complex enough not to disappoint. Has enough body to be a good match for food, I enjoyed it with some good quality dark chocolate."

"Very impresed with the balance and complexity from this wine straight out the bottle and is improving in the glass now, I note the other comments but try going to Ma****c and buying such a quality wine for nine and half quid. I 'll order this again for sure, baragain for me "

"Plump - not ! Quite a high level of acidity giving a lean and borderline mean note. Slightly bitter finish too. Not a disaster but not repeatable either."

"I'm in two minds about this wine. I bought two bottles and opened one so far. I agree with previous reviews that the wine felt closed-up. In fact this bottle felt totally closed-up. I double decanted to no improvement. The palate felt similar and not cohesive with very high acidity and a vigorous tannic structure. I went back to it the next day and I could just tell the faintest bramble fruit and herbal notes. It felt too young.
In general I would say that it was not the best bottle and I hope the second bottle is a lot better. I love the wines of Pepe Mendoza and I believe he is a leading light amongst the producers in the Eastern coast of Spain. For anyone buying this wine I would suggest to decant hours in advance or to wait at least a year to drink.
