"Very smooth and fruity flavoured wine - Attractive bottle looks impressive!"
Mr Peter O'Connor (03-Apr-2020)
"Nice wine, drinking well now, good body, good value for money for an everyday wine."
Mr Joseph Kleijnen (21-Feb-2020)
"Started off the evening with a very relaxing glass of white Alsace - perfect!
Then decided to have a fillet steak meal, so what red to go with it? By chance pulled this 2018 out but made sure it was at least room temp' and decanted via wine sieve for a quick half hour. Wow, it was outstanding, full of soft fruit, don't think any oak in there, or not much. Well priced, and would recommend. Gets on my re-order list easily!"
Mr Terence Eastham (01-Dec-2019)

"I'm largely in agreement with Mr Higgins. This is full bodied with loads of black and blue berry fruit and a touch of smoke. It's juicy, has some complexity and cut above the likes of the basic Vina Zorzal, but I'm not totally won over. I've got another bottle to go but still not sure if I'll buy more."
Mr Matthew Huntingford (13-Apr-2018)
"Colour: Dark ruby red with a purple rim.
Aroma: Savoury at first, cured meat, barbeque smoke, cedar, new leather with notes of black fruits, prunes, spice and a hint of Rosemary.
Taste: Dry, medium-bodied, brisk acidity and soft tannin giving a round ripe texture. Oak is evident in the taste, similar to the nose with a medium finish.
Overall: No complaints here, a good mix of fruit, oak and acidity, a well structured wine. Great value and I would recommend if you are a fan of rich dense reds."
Mr Gabriel Higgins (09-Apr-2018)

"Very drinkable. The nose is of violets with a leafy herbal note. It's quite acidic with spice, tannins, but not too heavy"
Mr Matthew Utting (13-Apr-2018)
"Very rich and flavoursome. This will be on my next order for sure."
Mr Ray Mount (18-Oct-2017)
"Full bodied and rich, very dark colour, dry/tannic peppery finish (tobacco/leathery ?)
Felt it was short finish and not particularly satisfying
Had it through aerator but will decant the next bottle"
Mr Roddy Wallace (14-Jul-2017)
"I loved this: found it surprisingly deep and characterful for a young wine. Good value; I'll certainly buy again."
Dr Evan Jones (08-Mar-2017)

"Having bought several previous vintages of this I was very disappointed with my latest purchase. Not sure if it was corked but seemed very sulphurous on opening. It did get slightly better after breathing but still not really drinkable. I tried the Society tip of cooking with it, which was fine, but it was a bit expensive as a cooking wine."
Mr Arthur Butler (31-Jul-2015)
"Fruity, rich, smoky, soft and elegant. A bargain!"
Mr Jeff Garner (06-Jul-2015)
"Not far off a Priorat wine, barely distinguishable from a bottle costing 3x as much last week. Smooth, classy for such a young wine and with good fruit, I will be ordering more."
Mr Royston Beale (29-Mar-2015)

"Beautiful wine, soft dark berries with mocha on the tannins, savoury finish. Very easy to drink. £9 supermarket bottles don't come anywhere close to this."
Mr Anthony O'Halloran (29-Oct-2014)
"This is a real find! Full bodied but with wonderful fruit so that it carries its alcohol level very easily. For a young wine, it has a depth which is quite unusual at the price and I wonder what it might develop into.... not that there is much chance of any of my bottles getting that far"
Mr Joseph Brady (07-Aug-2014)
"I have bought the last two years of the Blau, and have been consistently impressed. This is a fruit forward, Priorat style wine at a markedly cheaper price. It is rich and full flavoured, and is one that will surprise you with its quality at the price."
Mr Martin Gutteridge (17-Jun-2014)

"Almost felt guilty drinking this on a Tuesday night. Would be more than happy sharing with friends at the weekend. I hate to judge by price but this is exceptionally good value. Where does that smokiness come from? Delicious."
Mr David J Miller (08-Oct-2013)
"The positive reviews of this wine are justified. It has a very interesting mix of flavours — fruity but structured — and complements Mediterranean-style food very well indeed."
Mr Patrick Duffy (04-Sep-2013)
"An excellent BBQ red. Wild, sweet fruit and spicy notes cry out for grilled meats with relish/mustard or any other sauce you fancy. Lets hope for a long summer!
"
Mr Chris Sheppard (16-Jul-2013)
"A swirling plasmatic mass of smokey blue berried lushness and the perfect accompaniment to Antiques Roadshow after an over indulgent weekend."

"
David Williams' Value Wine of the Year 2013. This
would be an excellent buy at the £11.99 price that Marks & Spencer
currently has it online (£71.94 for six bottles); at the Wine Society it's an
absolute steal at under £9. An evocative powerhouse of a Catalan red from the
Montsant region next door to the generally rather pricey Priorat, it's a
blend of Mazuelo (aka Carignan), Syrah and Garnacha with layers of smoky but
fleshy dark fruit, earth and minerals. Ample and ideal for this time of year,
it's like opening a window onto the warmth of a Mediterranean summer.

"Juicy, Grenache-type red fruit. Sweet, soft, savoury. Long, spiced finish. - Richard Hemming"
The Observer (26th May 2013)
"I've mentioned Montsant here before as a good-value alternative source for the kind of dark, dense, craggy-textured and mineral reds you find in neighbouring Catalan region Priorat, but this would be exceptionally well priced no matter the source. There's just so much going on here: layers of black fruit, earth, smoke, minerals, in a robust, powerful red with a striking sense of place. - David Williams"
The Wine Gang (2nd May 2013)
"Such good value here, in a craggy, full-throttle red. There's a firm grip of tannin here, and no little alcohol, but there's minerals and earth and smoky black fruit too: if you're having a hunk of charry roasted or barbecued meat, look no further. "
JancisRobinson.com (4th Apr 2013)
"Carignan, Syrah, Grenache. Massively exuberant then minerally. Just as attractive as many a Priorat with masses of character. Very good value "
matthewjukes.com (Apr 2013)
"Blau is a Mazuelo (Carignan in French)/Syrah/Grenache blend and it comes from Priorat’s less starry, but equally important neighbouring region of Montsant. It is swaggering, rakish, bellicose and adorable. With blackberry and smouldering ember notes throughout this is a highly engineered wine with exceptional class and character. "
