"I very much echo the review of Mr Savage..this is one of the best examples of montsant that I have ever tried. The quality for the price is hard to compete with.. yes it's rich and full but a dash of air and a pinch of patience and the wine rewards you with a most fulfilling experience"

"Got this as part of an Autumn case and was interested to try a Spanish wine other than my normal Rioja. First impression was that it was OK but nothing special. However a glass 24 hours later told a very different story. This was vastly improved, with a much fuller, fruitier body and a superb long, peppery aftertaste. Getting some air into this seems to have made a tremendous difference. "

"Started off the evening with a very relaxing glass of white Alsace - perfect! Then decided to have a fillet steak meal, so what red to go with it? By chance pulled this 2018 out but made sure it was at least room temp' and decanted via wine sieve for a quick half hour. Wow, it was outstanding, full of soft fruit, don't think any oak in there, or not much. Well priced, and would recommend. Gets on my re-order list easily!"

"I'm largely in agreement with Mr Higgins. This is full bodied with loads of black and blue berry fruit and a touch of smoke. It's juicy, has some complexity and cut above the likes of the basic Vina Zorzal, but I'm not totally won over. I've got another bottle to go but still not sure if I'll buy more."

"Colour: Dark ruby red with a purple rim. Aroma: Savoury at first, cured meat, barbeque smoke, cedar, new leather with notes of black fruits, prunes, spice and a hint of Rosemary. Taste: Dry, medium-bodied, brisk acidity and soft tannin giving a round ripe texture. Oak is evident in the taste, similar to the nose with a medium finish. Overall: No complaints here, a good mix of fruit, oak and acidity, a well structured wine. Great value and I would recommend if you are a fan of rich dense reds."

"Having bought several previous vintages of this I was very disappointed with my latest purchase. Not sure if it was corked but seemed very sulphurous on opening. It did get slightly better after breathing but still not really drinkable. I tried the Society tip of cooking with it, which was fine, but it was a bit expensive as a cooking wine."

An evocative powerhouse of a Catalan red from the Montsant region next door to the generally rather pricey Priorat, it's a blend of Mazuelo (aka Carignan), Syrah and Garnacha with layers of smoky but fleshy dark fruit, earth and minerals.
