Giant Steps 'Circle of Fifths' Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2024
White Wine from Australia - Victoria
Circle of Fifths Chardonnay is a delicious new addition to the Giant Steps range, blending fruit from the estate’s prized single vineyards: Tarraford, Sexton, Primavera, Applejack and Bastard Hill. It sits above the wider Yarra blend chardonnay and just below the single vineyard wines. As winemaker Melanie Chester puts it, 'where the Single Vineyard wines are the pure tones of each vineyard, Circle of Fifths is the chord'. There’s a sense of effortless harmony here with bright citrus and stone fruit aromas that weave with struck match, roasted cashew and delicate toast. The nose is refined, lightly reductive and beautifully poised. The palate is silky and fresh, but not hard-edged, with lemon pith, white nectarine and a whisper of creamy oak wrapped around a taut core of acidity. Only 10% of the wine went through malolactic fermentation, helping retain clarity and drive. Elegant and detailed, this is a serious wine with generosity, balance and impressive depth. A superb debut. Drink this year to 2035. 13%
