London - Bring a Bottle - A Syrah Paulée
Share extraordinary bottles. Discover unforgettable wines. Celebrate syrah.
This is our very first Wine Society Paulée: an evening inspired by Burgundy's joyful harvest celebrations, where generosity, curiosity and conversation matter every bit as much as what's in the glass.
Bring a bottle of syrah or shiraz you'd love to share and join fellow members for a relaxed evening of great food, conversation and discovery.
Alongside the wines brought by guests, we'll open a selection of special bottles from The Wine Society's own cellars including Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 1997 and Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2010, making this a unique celebration of one of the world's greatest grape varieties.
A celebration of sharing
Imagine sitting around a table with fellow wine lovers, sharing bottles, stories and conversation, discovering new favourites and revisiting old ones in the company of people who love syrah just as much as you do.
A Paulée takes its inspiration from the harvest celebrations of Burgundy, where growers, winemakers and friends gather to share bottles from their own cellars around one table. It's less about formal tasting notes and more about generosity and conversation with people who'll truly appreciate it.
It isn't about who brings the most expensive bottle. It's about the pleasure of opening something you'd love to share, then discovering the stories behind everyone else's. Alongside the wines brought by members, we'll also be opening a handful of extraordinary bottles from The Wine Society's own cellars - including the legendary Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 1997 and Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2010 - giving everyone the chance to experience some truly iconic wines together.
Hosted in the warm surroundings of Bleeding Heart Bistro, this relaxed three-course dinner will bring together Rhône buyer Fiona Hayes and South Africa buyer Victoria Mason MW, alongside members who share a love of great wine. Together we'll explore syrah's many personalities - from the granite slopes of the northern Rhône to the rugged landscapes of South Africa - through stories, shared bottles and memorable discoveries.
What should I bring?
Bring up to one bottle of syrah or shiraz per ticket to share.
Choose something you'd genuinely enjoy opening with others. It might be a bottle you've been saving for the right occasion, a recent discovery you're excited to introduce, or simply a favourite you think deserves a wider audience.
This isn't about matching the wines we'll be opening from our own cellars or trying to bring the oldest or most expensive bottle in the room. A £25 bottle with a great story is every bit as welcome as a £250 one. The joy of a Paulée comes from the generosity of sharing, the conversations each bottle sparks, and the discoveries made together.
More than a dinner
A Paulée is built on generosity. Every bottle opened creates a conversation. Every table becomes its own unique tasting. No two evenings could ever be the same.
Whether you come to discover legendary wines, meet fellow members, hear Fiona and Victoria's stories from the vineyards they've come to know so well, or simply enjoy a wonderful evening of food and wine, you'll leave having experienced something genuinely special.
