The one and only Beaujolais grape, all strawberries and cherries, approachable, juicy but capable too of making serious, long-lived wines in certain crus such as Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, which some feel begin to resemble red Burgundy with age. For a different take on the grape, try the Côte Roannaise near the source of the Loire.
