Beaujolais-Villages La Sambinerie, Domaine Richard Rottiers 2023
Richard Rottiers comes from a winegrowing family from Chablis, rather than Beaujolais, but has established his own domaine in Moulin-à-Vent where he now farms 12 hectares, working organically since 2012. His Beaujolais-Villages is a fantastic introduction to an accomplished range of wines unified by their freshness, purity and seemingly effortless balance. Bright and crunchy, and lighter and fresher than you might expect from the warm 2023 vintage, this bursts with raspberries and hedgerow fruit and has an intensely spicy character - fennel and green peppercorns. Deliciously moreish, this is perfect chilled down a little, at any time of year.
