The high-altitude Chiroubles ‘Saint-Roch’ always produces a style that is fresh and elegant, and especially so in the cooler 2024 vintage which has yielded an energetic, nimble and vivid wine. Saint-Roch sits at 500m elevation and all of the work in the vineyard is done on foot and by hand; it’s ‘the Priorat of Beaujolais’ according to Frédéric Burrier. With violet and wild-herb perfume, and tangy raspberry and cranberry fruit, this is light and bright and linear.
